Pen Singam (English: Lioness) is a 2010 Tamil film directed by Bali Srirangam. The film, based on M. Karunanidhi's novel Surulimalai, stars Meera Jasmine, Uday Kiran, Richard, Vivek, Rohini, Radha Ravi, Rambha and J. K. Rithesh. The film released on 3 June 2010, coinciding with chief minister Karunanidhi's 87th birthday.
Synopsis
A young man named Surya is friends with a man named Nagendran. Surya runs into a problem with Simha Perumal and the gang. Nagendran made a speech about a woman way of getting married off with no dowry, a woman way of getting married is education. So Mythilli falls for Nagendran.Mythilli is a rich woman of an inherited father. Surya and his mother helps Nagendran get married. On the first night of Nagendran and Mythilli, Nagendran demands Mythilli to give him money. Mythilli is shocked to find out that he is not the man of her dreams. Mythilli made a cheque but cancelled the cheque, so Nagendran blackmails Mythilli using the pictures. Surya is shocked that Nagendran is a bad friend all his life. Nagendran invites Simha and his gang for a drinking party. So Mythilli called Surya to stop him. There Nagendran and Mythilli started to fight.In the meanwhile Simha's gang shut down the power and Mythilli was on the floor shot in the head, and in Surya's hand there was a gun.Surya was confused how did the gun get in his hand. Surya is accused of shooting Mythilli. Meghala is on the case of Mythilli's death.Actors

After having killed the notorious extortionist Mayil Vaaganam in the first film, Duraisingam (Suriya) has gone undercover after meeting the Home Minister and is working as an NCC officer in a school in Thoothukudi. The only people who know about this operation are the Chief Minister and Home Minister apart from himself. Sathya (Hansika Motwani) is a student who falls for Duraisingam though he is waiting to marry Kavya (Anushka Shetty), his love interest from the previous film. Susai (Santhanam), a local who works in the same school shows Duraisingam parts of Thoothukudi and also tells him about the rogue elements dominating the area helping him in his surveillance. He requests the Home Minister to transfer Erimalai (Vivek) and another cop for assisting him. Sathya's moves are frequently repulsed by Duraisingam who learns that Sathya is the niece of Thangaraj (Rahman). Bhai (Mukesh Rishi) and Thangaraj, are two criminals who control the area. Bhai and Thangaraj have connections with an international gangster and drug lord Danny (Danny Sapani).

Siva (Madhavan)comes to Chennai to continue his studies. He meets Priya (Meera Jasmine) and falls in love with her at first sight. Priya warns Siva that her brother (Atul Kulkarni) is a gangster and if he doesn't stop pursuing her, she will use her brother's influence to stop him. Sakthi (Karthik) is a spoiled rich child, with his mother (Sachu) and grandfather (Kaka Radhakrishnan) constantly doting on him with cash and gifts. His father (Vinu Chakravarthy) is worried that he has such a good-for-nothing son. Sakthi falls head over heels in love with Indhu (Rambha). Sakthivel’s uncle, Kundalakesi (Goundamani), aids Sakthi in declaring his love to Indhu. In the meantime, Sakthi's father meets his long-lost friend (Jaiganesh) and they agree on a marriage proposal for their children. Sakthi, (who wrongly believes that he is being forced into an arranged marriage) does not realize that Indhu is indeed Jayaganesh’s daughter and gets his cousin Mathi (Vivek) and Kundalakesi to misbehave and create a fight during the engagement. Eventually the truth is revealed Indhu is furious. Sakthi sees a girl called Latha (Indhu) committing suicide. Inspector (Madhan Bob) wrongly thinks they are a married couple and tries to marry them to each other but Sakthi escapes. Sakthi mistakenly hurts another girl (Vinodhini) whose father (S. S. Chandran) also thinks him her husband. Sakthi's cousin, Mathi, is a henpecked husband to a rich and arrogant wife (Anju) and lies to her that Vichithra is Sakthi's husband. At last, Sakthi is going to marry Indhu, but people who areknown to the three girls come and misbehave. The three girls explain the situation and make them understand what happened. Sakthi and Indhu get married.

The movie starts with the birth of a baby girl, Nandini, in a rich family. Nandini's three brothers throw a feast in honor of the girl child. The young son of the local singer (who had died) is brought in to sing for the event. The three brothers raise Nandini like their own child as their parents had died. At the age of 5, an astrologer predicts that Nandini will bring much happiness to the family, but her marriage will based on her choice and not the choice of her brothers. This angers the brothers and to prevent this from happening, she is raised within the confines of the house.She is home schooled and when she does go out, all the men are warned to hide from Nandini and that seeing Nandini will be met with dire consequences.
