Add to a movie listPeter the Pirate (German: Pietro der Korsar), also known in English as The Sea Wolves, is a 1925 German silent historical adventure film directed by Arthur Robison and starring Paul Richter, Aud Egede Nissen and Rudolf Klein-Rogge. It was based on a novel by Wilhelm Hegeler. Leni Riefenstahl was offered the role of female lead by producer Erich Pommer, but after doing a screen test she eventually turned it down.
Synopsis
Pietro, le fils d'un marchand d'huiles de la côte italienne, était corsaire autrefois. Il observe en permanence du fort de l'île. Quand un corsaire de son père vient par surprise, Pietro l'accable. Le corsaire peut s'enfuir. Pietro et sa famille craignent la vengeance des corsaires. Mais il est capturé par les corsaires de Salvatore qui doit la vie à Pietro. Pietro se plie aux règles des hommes de mer. Lors d'une attaque d'un navire marchand, Salvatore est grièvement blessé. Il est amené chez un médecin. Là, il tombe amoureux de sa fille Juana. Ils l'emmènent au château. Peu après, elle se désintéresse de lui, elle n'a d'yeux que pour Pietro. Entre Pietro et Salvatore, il y a maintenant la jalousie. Ils se livrent à un duel au couteau. Alors que Salvatore s'apprête à donner un coup à Pietro, Juana s'interpose pour les arrêter mais prend le coup.Actors

The title character Siegfried, son of King Siegmund of Xanten, masters the art of forging a sword at the shop of Mime. Mime sends Siegfried home, but while preparing to leave, Siegfried hears the tales of the kingdom of Burgundy, the kings who rule there, as well as of Kriemhild, the princess of Burgundy. Siegfried announces he wants to win her hand in marriage, much to the amusement of the smiths. By way of physical violence, Siegfried demands to be told the way. Mime, who is envious of Siegfried's skill as a swordsmith, claims there is a shortcut through the Wood of Woden; in reality, this route will lead Siegfried away from Burgundy and expose him to attack from the magical creatures inhabiting the wood. During his journey, Siegfried discovers a dragon, and deviates from his path to slay it. He touches its hot, yellow blood and understands the language of the birds, one of which tells him to bathe in the dragon's blood in order to become invincible to attack — except for one spot on his shoulder blade, which is missed after being covered by a falling lime (linden) leaf.

On a volcanic island near the kingdom of Hetvia rules Count Dakkar, a benevolent leader and scientist who has eliminated class distinction among the island's inhabitants. In the Caribbean, late in the 18th century, Captain Vallo (Burt Lancaster), a pirate known as "The Crimson Pirate", and his crew capture a ship of the King's navy. The ship is carrying Baron Gruda (Leslie Bradley), the special envoy to the King, who is on his way to the Island of Cobra to help crush a rebellion by rebels opposed to the King's rule. Vallo proposes to make money by selling the weapons on the ship to El Libre, the leader of the rebels. Baron Gruda then proposes to pay Vallo money if he can capture El Libre and bring him to him. Vallo accepts and Baron Gruda and his crew are released, Vallo keeping their ship and releasing Gruda and his men onto his own. While some of the pirates complain that this is not pirate business, they soon come around when they find out the amount of money to be made.

The film begins with the looting of a ship already captured and badly mauled, by the pirates. After relieving the ship and crew of valuables, the pirates fire the ship, blowing up the gunpowder on board, sinking her.
