It was filmed between 1943 and 1945. It was based on the novel Peter Voss, Thief of Millions by E.G. Seeliger.

Kathrin, Sylvio et Pierre étudient la musique à Paris. En raison de leurs difficultés financières, l'huissier de justice Fogar doit même saisir leurs instruments de musique. Mais il leur laisse finalement. Le trio rencontre le compositeur Duval, lui aussi en difficultés financières. Duval propose aux trois musiciens de participer à sa nouvelle revue. Mais la jalousie de M. Columbus, qui doit financer la revue, annule ce plan. En raison d'une infidélité de la diva Denise, pour laquelle il voulait prendre en charge le financement de la revue, Columbus se retire et donne l'ordre de convertir le théâtre en garage.

In St. Petersburg in 1917 revolution is brewing, but in more far-flung parts of Russia life is apparently carrying on as usual. At Sevastopol the officers on board a battleship are looking forward to its return to port when they will be allowed to fraternise with local girls. Kostja, one of the officers, is particularly excited. He is in love with Marija, the daughter of Sevastopol's Governor.
