Synopsis
After her marriage to Prince Charming, Cinderella spends her days in their luxurious palace, keeping his affability with all the people around her, but her two stepsisters, always envious of her, manage to get her away from the palace. The Prince falls into a state of despair, but Bonaventura promises him to go in search of the girl and bring her back. After fighting bitter enemies such as Barbariccia and the Ogre, helped by the loyal Cecè and by the Little Fairy he will finally succeed.Actors

Elsa, Princess of Arendelle, possesses cryokinetic powers, with which she is able to produce or manipulate ice, frost and snow at will. Cinderella is the beloved child of a widowed aristocrat. Anxious for his daughter to have a mother's love, he remarries to Lady Tremaine, with two daughters: Drizella and Anastasia. After her father dies unexpectedly, Lady Tremaine is revealed to be a cruel and selfish woman, and Cinderella is abused and mistreated by her stepfamily, who take over the estate and ultimately reduce her to being a scullery maid in her own home. Despite this, Cinderella grows into a kind and gentle young woman, befriending the animals in the barn and the mice and birds who live around the chateau.

This is a musical twist on the classic love story of Cinderella and Prince Charming. Prince Edward of Euphrania returns home after being sent to meet the princess Selena, whom his parents have arranged for him to marry. However, The Prince reveals he did not propose to the princess he was visiting, and angrily denounces arranged marriages ("Why Can't I Be Two People?"). Edward decides to tell his parents that he wants to marry for love. They, however, are more interested in the political side ("What Has Love Got to Do with Being Married?"). They fail to sway the prince, however.

The Grande Dame shows the brothers a glass slipper and tells them the story of Danielle de Barbarac, the true story of Cinderella. In 16th-century France, widower Auguste de Barbarac (Jeroen Krabbé), father of eight-year-old Danielle, marries Rodmilla de Ghent (Anjelica Huston), a wealthy baroness with two young daughters, Maguerite and Jacqueline, but he dies of a heart attack shortly afterwards. Before dying, Auguste's last words are directed to Danielle, which causes the Baroness to envy Danielle and treat her miserably for the next ten years. While Marguerite (Megan Dodds) is hostile and cruel to Danielle, Jacqueline (Melanie Lynskey) is kinder and more respectful to her, though she often stays out of the crossfires to keep the peace.

In 1958 Japan, university professor Tatsuo Kusakabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, move into an old house to be closer to the hospital where their mother Yasuko is recovering from a long-term illness. Satsuki and Mei find that the house is inhabited by tiny animated dust creatures called susuwatari – small, dark, dust-like house spirits seen when moving from light to dark places. When the girls become comfortable in their new house and laugh with their father, the soot spirits leave the house to drift away on the wind. A childless Queen (Morgan Fairchild) is given a magical potion by a kindly elf (Kenny Baker). When the lovely Princess Rosebud is born, all the fairies are invited to bestow gifts upon the child. However, the fearsome Red Fairy is left off the guest-list because there are only eight special golden dinner plates and nine fairies in the kingdom. Enraged, she crashes the christening ceremony and curses Rosebud to a premature death from the prick of a spindle. The wise White Fairy, who was tardy and therefore unable to bestow her gift, remedies the curse by changing the death to a hundred years sleep, and the awakening of Rosebud with the kiss of true love. In the meanwhile, all spindles are banned from the kingdom, except for one which is hidden and seemingly forgotten.
