This is Lye's second film to be viewed by the public. It uses the Gasparcolor process. Credits also list Australian music pioneer Jack Ellitt ("Synchronization") and Frank Jones ("Camera").
Synopsis
A man (Rupert Doone) is holding an umbrella in the rain. Then, he starts dancing, and as he does, the backgrounds completely change. Then, he starts dancing near the ocean, with a woman and fish following. Then, he plays tennis with cel-animated circles as another man watches. A colorful array of shapes follow, and the man sits and thinks, as the shapes come back and images come off the score sheet. The music ends, and a man's voice says the following: 'Post Office Savings Bank puts a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for you', followed by 'No deposit is too small for the Post Office Savings Bank'.Comments

Trade Tattoo est allé encore plus loin que Rainbow Dance dans sa manipulation du processus Gasparcolor. Le métrage original en noir et blanc était constitué d'extraits de documentaires de la GPO Film Unit tels que Night Mail. Lye a transformé ces séquences dans ce qui a été décrit comme le travail le plus complexe de tirage de film et d'étalonnage jamais réalisé. Des mots et des motifs animés se combinent aux séquences en direct pour créer des images aussi complexes et multicouches qu'une peinture cubiste. La musique était assurée par le groupe cubain Lecuona. Avec ses rythmes dynamiques, le film cherche (selon les mots de Lye) à transmettre "un romantisme sur le travail de tous les jours dans tous les domaines de la vie".

The show opens with Larry the Cucumber driving onto the countertop in a brand-new "Soo-Vee Action Jeep", which causes Bob the Tomato to feel upset. Larry has been waiting for the Action Jeep for a really long time.. Larry goes on to admit that he will not be really happy until he has all the additional vehicles in the Soo-Vee line, and Bob the Tomato decides that this would be a good theme for an episode. The French Peas, Jean-Claude and Philippe, they appear and begin narrating the story.

Baron Boris von Frankenstein (voiced by Boris Karloff) achieves his ultimate ambition, the secret of total destruction. Because one of Larry's silly songs, "The Song of the Cebu" was so silly and confusing, Archibald Asparagus has replaced Silly Songs with Larry with "Love Songs with Mr. Lunt." Feeling depressed, he goes down to Jimmy's ice cream parlor to drown his sorrows. While there, Jimmy tries and fails to cheer up Larry by showing him past Silly Songs.

The movie's title sequence story (based on the original story by Dan O'Bannon and art by Thomas Warkentin) opens with a space shuttle flying in orbit over Earth. The bay doors (on the belly of the shuttle) open, releasing a 1960 Corvette. An astronaut seated in the Corvette then begins descending through Earth's atmosphere, landing in a desert canyon.

After a young red fox is orphaned, Big Mama the owl, Boomer the woodpecker, and Dinky the finch arrange for him to be adopted by a kindly farmer named Widow Tweed. Tweed names him Tod, since he reminds her of a toddler. Meanwhile, her neighbor, a hunter named Amos Slade, brings home a young hound puppy named Copper and introduces him to his hunting dog Chief. Tod and Copper become playmates and vow to remain "friends forever". Slade becomes frustrated with Copper for frequently wandering off to play and puts him on a leash. While playing with Copper at his home, Tod awakens Chief. Slade and Chief chase him until they are confronted by Tweed. After a violent argument, Slade threatens to kill Tod if he trespasses on his farm again. Hunting season comes and Slade takes his dogs into the wilderness for the interim. Meanwhile, Big Mama, Dinky and Boomer attempt to explain to Tod that his friendship with Copper can no longer continue, as they are natural enemies, but Tod naively refuses to believe them, hoping that he and Copper will remain friends forever.
