Synopsis

Charles Dump vit dans un site industriel abandonné : une vaste mine à ciel ouvert, loin des zones habitées, où il a pour seules voisines une femme et sa jeune fille toutes deux mentalement dérangées. Un jour, Dump recueille un jeune homme blessé d'une balle, arrivé là en sautant d'un train de minerai qui passait à proximité de la zone. Ce kid, armé, vient de réussir un hold-up dont il tient le fruit dans une mallette. Dump est un être fruste et brutal, mais il a compris l'affaire. Après avoir tenté sans succès de supprimer le jeune homme, il le recueille et le soigne tout en espérant faire main basse sur l'argent. En même temps, il monte la garde car son pensionnaire l'a prévenu que Sunshine, son complice dans le hold-up, viendrait un jour chercher sa part du butin. Un jour, l'homme arrive sur les lieux. Sunshine est un homme froid, violent, cruel. En brigand doté d'expérience, il n'a guère de mal à se jouer des occupants du site. Ainsi Charles Dump, de maître des lieux, devient sa victime. Sunshine a toutefois plus de mal pour retrouver le butin car le kid, s'il n'a pas initialement l'intention de doubler son partenaire, a toutefois le bon sens de s'en méfier.

Dave Emerson, l'un des quatre fils du criminel en fuite en Amérique le comte d'Emerson, est jugé en procès pour le meurtre du jardinier Edward Amery. In response to a record high crime rate in Johannesburg, the South African government purchases a squadron of state-of-the-art, armour-plated attack robots from weapons manufacturer Tetravaal, developed by Deon Wilson. A competing project is the remotely controlled MOOSE, developed by soldier-turned-engineer Vincent Moore. Deon is praised for Tetravaal's success but Vincent grows jealous when the police are unwilling to give his heavy weapons platform equal attention. At home, Deon creates a prototype artificial intelligence that mimics a human mind to the point of feeling emotions and having opinions, but Tetravaal CEO Michelle Bradley refuses to let him test the A.I. on a police robot. Undeterred, Deon steals a recently damaged robot before it is destroyed and puts it in his van, along with the "guard key" needed to update the robot's software. On his way home, he is kidnapped by a group of gangsters, Ninja, Yolandi, and Amerika, who threaten to kill him unless he reprograms a police robot to fight for them. Deon installs the new software into the damaged robot, which responds with childlike terror upon powering up. Deon and Yolandi calm the robot, teaching it words and naming it "Chappie". Despite Deon wanting to stay with the robot, Ninja forces him out of their hideout.

Enzo Ceccotti est un petit voleur qui vit dans la banlieue romaine de Tor Bella Monaca. Un jour, en fuyant la police, il se jette dans le Tibre et entre en contact avec des substances radioactives. Rafael is a women's clothing clerk at a large Madrid department store, Yeyo's. His department is filled with beautiful, comely young women whom Rafael routinely seduces. When Rafael vies for a management position with Don Antonio, a men's clothing clerk whom Rafael despises, a fluke causes Don Antonio to win the promotion. He fires Rafael and a fight ensues in which Rafael accidentally kills Don Antonio. Lourdes, an ugly and unassuming clerk at the store, witnesses the outcome of the fight, helps Rafael incinerate the body, and provides an alibi for the police. Rafael wins his coveted promotion, but at a terrible cost: Lourdes blackmails Rafael into an unwanted relationship. He is forced to fire his many former lovers, to marry Lourdes (she proposes on a live reality TV show) and to support clown-like women's clothing of her design. Rafael becomes so depressed he begins to hallucinate, seeing the ghost of Don Antonio who suggests Rafael should kill Lourdes. As the police are also pressing him again, he causes a fire in the department store and fakes his death, in front of his wife and a police officer. Five years later, he (with a false identity) has a small business selling ties and socks, but Lourdes' clown-like clothes are a success and she becomes a millionaire.
