The Stooges are inventors desperately trying to obtain a patent for their fly catching invention. Whilst learning they must catch 100,000 flies to get their patent, their conversation is overheard by several crooks across the hallway. Unfortunately, the crooks think Curly has $100,000. A flirtatious woman (Christine McIntyre) who is part of the nest of crooks corners the gullible Curly and tries to finagle the non-existent money out of him. Set in the Old West, the Stooges are scouts for the United States Cavalry. They are sent by General Muster (Ted Lorch) to catch a gang of cattle rustlers, so they hide as bushes to try to find the gang's leader, Longhorn Pete (Stanley Blystone). The sheriff of Peaceful Gulch places a picture of the Stooges in the paper, claiming they are famous marshalls coming to rid the little town of its criminals. Despite this, the boys are almost chased out of the town after nearly poisoning the ill sheriff (Snub Pollard) who is suffering from lumbago. The sheriff finally puts them in charge of guarding the bank, which gets robbed while their backs are turned. To avoid being hanged, the Stooges search the area, with Curly in bloodhound mode. The Stooges eventually discover the stolen money, but not before almost being discovered by the main outlaw, Red (Bud Jamison). The Stooges are thrown out of their apartment (literally) and the Landlord will not allow them to get their belongings until they pay 8 months of back rent. Desperate to make money Moe reads an article in the newspaper about a man who slipped on a bar of soap in a hotel lobby and successfully sued the hotel. The Stooges find a bar of soap in the street and arrived at a hotel in an attempt to stage an accidental slip and sue. Before carrying out their plan the Stooges find out the hotel is run by an old lady who is about to lose the hotel to the landlord as she owes him money and can't attract new customers because the hotel is run down and she can't afford the repairs. The trio then decide to help her fix up the place and start by beating up the landlord and stealing his watch and the small amount of money the lady just paid him. The Stooges must get their future father-in-law (John Tyrrell) out of jail. Apparently, the father is a prison warden who has been overthrown and put behind bars by the local mafia. The Stooges manage to sneak into the prison, find the father-in-law to be, and start snapping as many incriminating photos of the mafia's party as possible. As a result, the real crooks are served justice, and the Stooges marry their sweethearts.
