Rosemary (German:Das Mädchen Rosemarie) is a 1958 West German drama film directed by Rolf Thiele and starring Nadja Tiller, Peter van Eyck and Carl Raddatz. The film portrays the scandal that surrounded Rosemarie Nitribitt. Thiele made a second film about Nitribitt, Rosemary's Daughter which was released in 1976.

The film's sets were designed by the art directors Wolf Englert and Ernst Richter.

Synopsis

Rosemarie Nitribitt est une jeune prostituée de Francfort-sur-le-Main, dans l'Allemagne des années 1950 en plein "Miracle économique". Aussi séduisante qu'ambitieuse, Rosemarie cible les riches patrons de la grande industrie. La générosité de l'un d'entre eux lui permet de commencer à mener grand train, si bien qu'elle se prend à rêver d'une place dans la haute société. Réalisant amèrement que ce monde lui est inaccessible, elle accepte par dépit de pratiquer de l'espionnage industriel sur l'oreiller pour le compte d'un mystérieux entrepreneur français. Et c'est là que ses ennuis commencent.

Lulu, 14 ans, est sortie de la rue par le Dr. Schön, un éditeur. Elle voulait lui voler une montre, il en fera une dame. Comme il croit ne rien pouvoir lui apprendre, il la marie avec le docteur Goll. Elle se met à danser au son de son violon et devient un modèle pour le peintre Schwarz. Après que Schön et Goll partent l'atelier du peintre, Lulu essaie de séduire le pauvre artiste. Lorsque Goll revient à l'improviste, il les trouve dans une position ambiguë, fait une crise cardiaque et meurt. Dans l'atelier apparaît pour la première fois la comtesse Geschwitz, qui aime Lulu et veut faire un tour du monde avec elle.
