Synopsis
Le géant de la montagne Rübezahl vit dans les monts des Géants. Depuis 999 ans, il n'a plus été vu parmi les gens qui vivent dans une vallée voisine. Aigri par leur méchanceté, il ne veut rien avoir à faire avec eux et s'est donc retiré à l'intérieur du massif puissant. Un jour, alors que Rübezahl vient d'annoncer qu'il ne redescendra jamais, un de ses nains lui dit que les méchants sont de plus en plus répandus et que les bons l'appellent à l'aide. Rübezahl doute qu'il y ait de bonnes personnes, il n'entend pas ses appels. Le nain insiste, certes a vu beaucoup de mal dans la vallée, il y a des voleurs, des gaspilleurs, des mangeurs et des ivrognes, des bourreaux d'animaux et des braconniers, avares et hautains. L'esprit de la montagne dit que ça a toujours été comme ça depuis des centaines d'années. Il veut au moins savoir si au moins les enfants sont bons. Le nain répond qu'il y a de bons enfants qui suivraient leurs parents, mais aussi ceux qui ne sont pas sûrs, gaspillent leur argent de poche pour des bonbons et se disputent avec leurs frères et sœurs. Rübezahl dit qu'il n'aime pas entendre que les enfants n'ont pas au moins peur de lui. Le nain nie cette question et dit à son maître que les enfants ne croient plus en Rübezahl, que c'est juste un conte de fées, par lequel les parents essaient de les intimider, qu'il n'y a pas d'esprit de montagne. Cette information réveille la colère de Rübezahl, qu'il montrera aux gens que le vieil homme de la montagne est toujours là. Pour la première fois depuis longtemps, il quitte sa grotte pour assurer la paix et la justice parmi les gens. Surtout ils devraient encore avoir du respect pour lui.Actors

A saber-toothed squirrel (known as Scrat) is trying to find a place to store his prized acorn. Eventually, as he tries to stomp it into the ground, he causes a large crack in the ground that extends for miles and miles and sets off a large avalanche. He barely escapes, but finds himself stepped on by a herd of prehistoric animals. The animals are trying to avoid the ice age by migrating south. Sid, a clumsy ground sloth left behind by his family, decides to move on by himself but is attacked by two Brontops whom he angered. Sid is soon saved by Manfred ("Manny"), an agitated mammoth who fights them off and is heading north. Not wanting to be alone and unprotected, Sid follows Manny. Meanwhile, Soto, the leader of a Smilodon pride, wants revenge on a group of humans by eating the chief's baby son, Roshan, alive. Soto leads a raid on the human camp, during which Roshan's mother is separated from the rest and jumps down a waterfall when cornered by Soto's lieutenant, Diego. For his failure, Diego is sent to find and retrieve the baby.

A magical log falls off a wagon and rolls through an Italian town causing considerable damage and some injuries. It comes to rest in front of the house of Geppetto, a poor wood carver who carves a puppet named Pinocchio from it. To Geppetto's surprise, the puppet comes to life and to his dismay, it becomes very mischievous. Geppetto sells his only coat to provide schoolbooks for Pinocchio. Two children, Ian and Clare, move into a town where their grandfather has just died. Ian thinks his grandfather's spirit is trying to tell them something, finding some library news clippings about a man named Zachariah Kull, who was accused of burning his home with his wife in it. Later, Ian and Clare capture a ghost named Jumper (a dead skydiver) who ends up freed by his partner, Coffin Ed (a revolutionary soldier). They follow them and other ghostly wisps of air into the forest, where they find an abandoned building. Entering, they find arriving ghosts entering a mirror, which leads to the afterlife. Ed and Jumper's boss, Mariah (a dead bride) isn't too pleased with this. Ian and Clare learn that they look for souls that don't want to cross over, and are dubbed the "Soul Patrol" by Jumper; they ended up with these jobs while waiting for their turn to cross over.
