Sajan is a 1969 Indian Bollywood film directed by Mohan Segal. It stars Manoj Kumar and Asha Parekh in pivotal roles. It became a hit at the box office.
The film was Shatrughan Sinha's debut in Hindi movies.
The first half of the movie is inspired by 1951 movie Happy Go Lovely which has also inspired movies like Ghajini (2008 film) and Pasand Apni Apni.
The second half is largely inspired from a 3 episode (Episode 25 - 27) story 'I Killed The Count' from Alfred Hitchcock Presents Season 2.
Synopsis
Ashok comes from a business family and lives a very wealthy lifestyle. One day while perusing newspapers he comes across an article which claims that he is to marry a dancer named Rajni. Angered at this insinuation, he goes to confront Rajni, all ready to threaten with a lawsuit, but is instead bewitched by her beauty and innocence and ends up falling in love with her. Initially he does not reveal his real identity, but does inform her eventually, and both are ready to take the next step. Before that could happen both get embroiled in a murder - a murder that ends up having three different killers - all confessing to the same crime.Actors

It is a thriller about a young woman, Sunita (played by Asha Parekh), who ends up married to the "wrong" man, Rajan. Thinking that he has conspired with his girlfriend Monica (played by Helen) to murder her, she runs away to find her father's old friend in Bangalore who may be able to help. Having no money, the only way she can get there is to join a traveling group of gypsies. There she meets Mohan (played by Jeetendra) and is attracted to him. But Nisha (played by Aruna Irani), who loves Mohan, can go to the extent of killing anyone who gets in her way.

Seema is the only child of widowed Mohan, who is adopted by Mohan's boss, Sardar Ranjit Singh, who has no heir to his estate, as his daughter, Jamuna, eloped with a poor peasant, Gopal. Ranjit does not get along with his step-brother, Shankar. Jamuna manages to placate her dad, & he goes to her house, only to find it in flames with Gopal burned to death, and their son, Sunder, missing. Years later, Seema has now grown up and meets with a young man named Pyarelal in Ooty. She meets him a year later, but this time he introduces himself as Jhatpat Singh, a man she was supposedly engaged to in their childhood. Shortly thereafter she meets with the real Jhatpat Singh, and changes her mind about the fake Jhatpat Singh alias Pyarelal. Now Sunil knows that he was adopted and understands that he was the lost son of Gopal. He goes to Sardar Ranjit Singh and appoints to be an estate manager. There he meets Seema again and they rekindle their romance. By that time, planning to steal away property, Shankar sends his son as the lost son of Jamuna and Gopal. Ranjit Singh believes him and wants to marry seema to Shankar's son. After some misunderstandings, family finally reunites and Jamuna's sanity returns. Movie ends with the marriage of Seema and Sunil/Sunder.

Amitabh plays Kumar Sen, an artist by profession. He is in love with Asha (Yogeeta Bali). Asha wins a trip to Ooty in a dance competition, and falls in love with a wealthy tea plantation owner, Rajesh (Navin Nischol). When Kumar finds out, he goes to Asha's uncle, Ashok Verma (Om Prakash), and demands Asha's hand in marriage. When Ashok refuses, Kumar kills him. The manner in which Kumar plans and executes the murder is regarded as an immensely brilliant and engaging sequence. Kumar boards and exits, various modes of transportation to avoid any possibilities of suspicion and finally frames Rajesh in the case and tries to win Asha's love. Asha, still in love with Rajesh, promises Kumar to stay with him forever, if he can get Rajesh released from his death sentence. Unable to digest that, Kumar understands that Rajesh will always remain Asha's love. He writes down his confession, gives it to Rajesh, and commits suicide.

Jwala Prasad is to marry the girl of his dreams. On the day of the marriage, his wife is dressed all in red. Just before the wedding she slips off to meet her real lover. When Jwala finds out, he is so enraged that he turns into a monster and kills both his to-be wife and her lover. The saga does not end here, and Jwala as a monster continues to terrorize the region, first abducting brides dressed in red just before the wedding procession stops at a Mandir (temple). When a groom finally confronts and kills the monster, it leaves the body of Jwala Prasad and possesses the body of its killer. And the terror continues. Years later another man has now killed this creature, and the monster has possessed the man's body, and it is again on a killing spree. The police of this region do confront this creature, but find out it is invincible,bullets cannot harm it, nor can physical strength of fully grown men overpower it. The suspense mounts as one by one the brides are killed off and no one seems to have a clue. Everybody seems to be suspect, including the village Priest, the Thakur, his son, and several other people. Even if they do manage to kill this creature, it will simply re-possess the body of another male, and continue its gruesome task. The movie was a box office hit of 1979, all of the songs of this film became hits. A superb movie of yesteryears with multistar cast.

Ronaklal (Kanhaiyalal) is the servant of a rich man who suffering from tuberculosis and believing himself to be on the point of death, gives Ronaklal a large sum of money to look after his little son, Bansi. Ronaklal moves to a village with his wife, son and Bansi where he brings up Bansi as a menial. Bansi (Guru Dutt) is simple and good-hearted while Ronaklal’s son, Deepak (Sudesh Kumar), though sent to the city for education, pursues a rich man's daughter (Neena). Ramdev Bakshi (Dev Anand) is a peaceful, quiet man who is only interested in wildlife and nature. He is sent then to the Indo-Chinese border in the army by his father, a war hero. The movie was shot in an era when educated people in cities were getting influenced by the western culture hence the people from rural areas who placed a lot of importance to values and culture, strongly abstained from marrying into city people's homes. Geeta is a girl from a well to do family and is well educated, her parents had brought up her with traditional values and respect for those values. After her graduation, her parents decide to marry her off with Ratan Chowdhury, the son of a zaminder, who had the mind frame that a highly educated wife would be incapable of handling and managing a home, specially in a joint family. Later he marries Geeta but his mentality and the talk of others stop him from accepting her. He disowns her and poor Geeta has to go back to her parents' house.

Orphaned at a very young age, Varsha Oberoi, lives a wealthy lifestyle with her paternal uncle, Jain Oberoi, in Bombay, and has traveled world-wide. Angrily he confronts Vikram, who counsels him that Varsha had never really loved him.
