Add to a movie listThe Salt Prince (Slovak: Soľ nad zlato, Czech: Sůl nad zlato, German: Der Salzprinz) is a Slovak fairy-tale movie based on a novel by Pavol Dobšinský. The movie's central lesson is that salt, as it is necessary for life, is more precious than gold and emeralds.
Synopsis
The story tells a story about old king Pravoslav who wants to pass on his throne to one of his three daughters. The closest to his heart is the youngest one Maruška, but he wants to confirm his decision by reason not only by feelings, so he follows the advice of court clown to decide according to their confessions of daughterly love towards him and their bridegrooms. At the ceremony of confessions the oldest from sisters, who loves money and power, pleases father with confession that she loves him more than gold. Her bridegrooms promises power and order to his country. Younger one obsessed with jewellery confesses that she loves him more than any of expensive jewels. The youngest one Maruška confesses that she loves him more than salt, because salt is inevitable for life. Her bridegroom, the Salt prince promises love to his daughter prosperity, justice and charity towards his people if he with Maruška will reign. The king is offended by Maruška's confession, because there is enough salt and everybody, even the poor ones have some. The Salt prince tries to defend Maruška, but king, father expels Maruška from his kingdom. While this event is taking place King of Nature(Underworld), father of Salt Prince appears and utters a curse upon Pravoslav's kingdom. From now on every grain of salt would turn gold. This event would not only influence the kingdom, but also Salt prince, because as his ideas of good, and good will were taken in wrong turn he disappears and is turned into salt pillar in the underwold.Actors

In 17th-century Hungary, recently widowed Countess Elisabeth Nádasdy discovers that her youthful appearance and libido can be temporarily restored if she bathes in the blood of young women. She enlists her steward and lover, Captain Dobi, to help with the kidnap and murder of several local girls, whilst having another sexual affair with young Lt. Imre Toth. As a cover for her crimes while in her rejuvenated state, she takes the identity of her own daughter; but castle historian Fabio grows suspicious. Eventually she kills a prostitute called Ziza and it doesn't help, Dobi finds Fabio who has a chapter about blood sacrifices and tells Elisabeth the truth in return for being allowed to live, he says only a virgin sacrifice will work. She then kills more virgins. Fabio tries to tell Toth the truth about his lover, but Dobi kills him before he can. He then shows Toth Elisabeth to jade him away from her. Elisabeth forces Toth into marrying her but her daughter Ilona arrives home, Elisabeth grows old again and tries to kill her daughter but kills Toth instead. Elisabeth, Dobi, and her maid are sentenced to death for their crimes and are last seen awaiting the hangman in their cell. In the last scene a peasant curses her as "devil woman" and "Countess Dracula".

Baron von Rhoneberg (Jean Servais), a former World War II German general, sacrificed his daughter as the war ended. This condemned his family to be placed under a terrible curse. Many years later, he tells the story to a reporter who wishes to write an article about it and take pictures of his castle. However, the Baron is against any photographs. Despite his protests, the young woman goes up to visit the castle and take pictures but is killed when a dry thunderstorm suddenly rolls in while she is in close proximity to it. Her body is taken back to the town where it is discovered she has a burn in the shape of a lobster-like claw on her arm which is confirmed as the Mark of the Devil.
