Add to a movie listSookha (English: The Famine) is a 1983 Hindi drama film directed by M. S. Sathyu, starring Pankaj Dheer and Anant Nag. Based on a story by U. R. Ananthamurthy about politics of famine in Karnataka. An idealistic officers eventually succumbs to bureaucratic apathy. Famine relief arrives, but too late.
The Kannada version the film titled Bara was released in 1980, and had won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Kannada. However, unlike the Kannada version, the film couldn't get a theatrical release, later it was shown on state-run Doordarshan channel.
At the 31st National Film Awards, it won the award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. Also at the 31st Filmfare Awards, it was awarded Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie.

Two young squirrels ask their grandfather (Voiced by Mel Blanc-uncredited) on Christmas Eve who the "men" are in the lyric "Peace on Earth, good will to men." The grandfather squirrel then tells them a history of the human race, focusing on the never-ending wars men waged. Ultimately the wars do end, with the deaths of the last men on Earth, two soldiers shooting each other, one shoots the other soldier and the injured soldier kills the last, but dies. Afterwards, the surviving animals discover a copy of an implied Bible in the ruins of a church. Inspired by the book's teachings, they decide to rebuild a society dedicated to peace and nonviolence (using the helmets of soldiers to construct houses). The cartoon features an original song written to the tune of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

Bill Forrester (Gregory Peck), a Canadian pilot serving in the Royal Air Force in Burma, flying de Havilland Mosquitos, a two-seat fighter-bomber. In Honolulu, a DC-4 airliner prepares to take off for San Francisco with 17 passengers and a crew of 5. While climbing in Monument Valley, siblings Peter (O'Donnell) and Annie Garrett (Tunney) lose their father, Royce (Stuart Wilson). Scientists discover that a violent storm is heading toward New York and begin the warning process throughout the city. They believe that something is wrong with the natural barometer patterns and that an unprecedented event is imminent. A sudden eclipse of the sun verifies their notions and it seems that global destruction is near. After a volcanic eruption on Daikoku Island, the Yahata-Maru Japanese fishing vessel is caught in strong currents off its shores. As the boat drifts into shore, the island begins to erupt, and a giant monster lifts itself out of the volcano. A few days later, reporter Goro Maki is sailing in the area and finds the vessel intact but deserted. As he explores the vessel, he finds all the crew dead except for one young man called Hiroshi Okamura, who has been badly wounded. Suddenly a giant Shockirus sea louse attacks him but he is saved by Maki who kills it with a cleaver.

Susan Clarkson (Melissa Joan Hart) agrees to go with Jason (Jonathan Brandis) and three other young crew members who have built themselves a 60 foot sailing yacht, and take the yacht out to sea from San Diego to Vancouver to deliver it to a potential buyer. However the over-anxious captain sails off course and the crew runs into some bad weather. While out at sea, the yacht sinks leaving the crew to fend for themselves against the merciless elements. All trapped on an emergency raft, they find themselves without food, water or supplies and with sharks posing a constant threat to their survival.
