In the heart of Siberia, Dr. Maurice Hunter, a famous amateur archeologist, his daughter Nadia, and their group of guides are taking part in an expedition to locate a fabled death ray created by inventor Nikola Tesla. An army captain is flying three misfit deserters home for a court martial when the plane has engine trouble and they crash-land in the ocean near an uncharted island. There they find a primitive society of cave women who routinely sacrifice virgins to appease The Great One, the top dog dinosaur on the island. Mistaken for gods as part of a prophecy, the men must destroy The Great One or face death, but meanwhile they fall in love despite the advice of their Queen, who tries to disway them from being corrupted by the outsiders ways.

When a deranged criminal is caught, he is then being transported on a Boeing 747-100 to New York, along with some other criminals. Through a stroke of luck he is able to subdue the Federal agents assigned to bring him, free the other criminals, and take over the 747. He then threatens to crash the 747 into a populated area unless his demands are met. The FBI agent who captured him then decides to get on the 747 while in flight to do something. He does but things don't go as planned, and the criminal continues his plan to crash the 747 unless the agent can do something, the military is going to shoot the plane down.

On Christmas Eve two years after the Nakatomi Tower Incident, John McClane is waiting at Washington Dulles International Airport for his wife Holly to arrive from Los Angeles. Reporter Richard Thornburg, who exposed Holly's identity to Hans Gruber in the Nakatomi Tower, is assigned a seat across the aisle from her. The film begins with a group of divers installing a power cable at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, when a shark swims up and kills one of them. Six months later, lifeguard Ben Carpenter (from the first Shark Attack film) and his partner Esai drive out to sea to catch some lobster. While diving, Ben finds a broken power cable with a large shark tooth stuck in it. After he pulls out the tooth, he is caught by two other divers, and soon goes back to land. Later he posts a description of the tooth online, but as he cannot find a matching shark tooth on the internet, he names it "mystery shark". Natural history researcher named Cataline "Cat" Stone gets the message, finds him and looks at the tooth. She believes it to come from a huge prehistoric shark called Megalodon (Greek for "big tooth").
