Sur les routes d'acier est un film documentaire français réalisé par Boris Peskine, sorti en 1938.
Le film a été commandité par la Fédération nationale des travailleurs des chemins de fer.
Synopsis
Ce film déroule une histoire du chemin de fer, depuis les trains à vapeur jusqu'aux années 1930. Sur les routes d'acier loue les services rendus par les cheminots à l'économie française (transport du charbon, de la production agricole...) tandis que défilent des plans d'infrastructures - ponts, tunnels - exaltant la science des ingénieurs ferroviaires. Le corps des cheminots tout entier est salué pour son abnégation et sa rigueur. Le film présente, schéma et graphiques à l'appui, l'organigramme de la SNCF nouvellement créée, avant de se lancer dans la description des œuvres sociales du syndicat des cheminots.Comments

It was 1920 in the southwest West Virginia coal fields, and, as the narrator recalls, "things were tough." In response to efforts by miners to organize into a labor union, the Stone Mountain Coal Company announces it will cut the pay miners receive, and will be importing replacement workers into town to replace those who join the union. The new workers are African Americans from Alabama and are coming in on the train, but the train is stopped outside town and the black men are told to get off. Derided as "scabs", they are then attacked by the local miners, but manage to get back on the train and continue their journey.

In Dakhla (in the southernmost part of Morocco), one of the richest fishing regions in the world, hundreds of Moroccan fishermen, pushed by the increasing shortage of resources in the north, huddle together in tents sprayed by the ocean.
