Synopsis
Gaby et Fred partent en compétition de natation à Québec. Pour Gaby, le succès est instantané. Mais pour Fred, les choses se gâtent. En plus de la tension qu'il y a dans le couple, Gaby fait la rencontre d'un ami qui fréquentait la même école qu'elle. La petite Gabrielle Roberge est bien mêlée dans son cœur. Non seulement pour ses amours, mais aussi pour ses études. Devrait-elle abandonner la compétition pour se concentrer sur ses études?Actors

Gaby, une élève de secondaire 5 peu sociable, reçoit, de la directrice de son école, l’ordre de superviser l’intégration de Sandrine, une nouvelle venue. Au contact répété de cette jeune fille joviale et aimable, Gaby finit par abaisser la garde et à sortir de sa coquille, où elle s’était enfermée quelques années plus tôt après qu’une brûlure accidentelle l’eut forcée à abandonner la natation. Le souvenir de cette vieille blessure, ainsi qu’un assortiment de sentiments inavouables, remontent à la surface lorsque Gaby apprend qu’elle devra donner des leçons privées de maths à Frédérick, le champion de l’équipe de natation convoité par toutes les filles de l’école. Sa mère l'a quittée pour aller à Vancouver.

À la suite d'un grave accident d'autobus qui a décimé l'équipe après un match pré-saison à Roberval, le National de Québec doit se reconstruire. Recevant peu d'appui de la Ligue Nationale, l'entraîneur et directeur-gérant Marc Gagnon essaie de motiver ses joueurs en nommant le jeune prodige Guy Lambert capitaine. Mais les joueurs n'ont plus de motivation et l'équipe perd dix-neuf matchs d'affilée. Alors que tout semble perdu, le National doit se tourner vers son ancien héros Pierre Lambert afin de retrouver le chemin de la victoire. Suzie Lambert, elle, a pris sous son aile un groupe de travailleuses qui souhaite sauver l'usine où elles travaillent.

Although she initially rejects an offer by Joe Backett to become his business partner at the Neptune swimming suit design company, aquatic ballet dancer Eve Barrett changes her mind when she considers the publicity potential of the job. One day, Joe learns that a South American polo team will be playing a big match in town, and he and Eve begin planning a swimming spectacle for the event. Jesminder "Jess" Bhamra is the 18-year-old daughter of Punjabi Sikh Indians from Hounslow in west London. Jess is infatuated with football but her parents have forbidden her to play because she is a girl. She plays in the park sometimes with her good friend Tony, and his buddies, where her skills draw the attention of Juliette "Jules" Paxton, who plays for the women's team of the local club, the fictional Hounslow Harriers. Their coach, Joe, is impressed with her play and puts her on the team. Jess pretends to have a job to play with the team and Jules and Jess become best friends, despite the fact that both are attracted to Joe. Jess enlists her sister Pinky to cover for her when the team travels to Germany for a big match, but everything unravels when Jules spies Joe and Jess almost kiss, causing a breach between them, and Jess's parents find out and forbid her to continue. Meanwhile, Jules's mother wrongly thinks Jules is a lesbian and the girls' spat is a lovers' quarrel. Jess's parents are confronted by a similar accusation before Jess reveals the truth about her attraction to Joe. While the elder Bhamras are distracted by the elaborate preparations for Pinky's upcoming wedding, Jess continues to play and the Hounslow Harriers make their way towards the top of the league. Joe encourages Jess to come clean with her parents and eventually approaches Mr. Bhamra to explain she has a chance to win a prestigious scholarship, but Mr. Bhamra refuses to believe it. Jess and Jules must sort their differences, make peace with their parents, and overcome cultural prejudice to win the league championship, and earn scholarships to Santa Clara University in California.

Modern Times portrays Chaplin as a factory worker employed on an assembly line. There, he is subjected to such indignities as being force-fed by a "modern" feeding machine and an accelerating assembly line where he screws nuts at an ever-increasing rate onto pieces of machinery. He finally suffers a nervous breakdown and runs amok, throwing the factory into chaos. He is sent to a hospital. Following his recovery, the now unemployed factory worker is mistakenly arrested as an instigator in a Communist demonstration. In jail, he accidentally ingests smuggled cocaine, mistaking it for salt. In his subsequent delirium, he gets out of the jail. When he returns, he stumbles upon a jailbreak and knocks the convicts unconscious. He is hailed a hero and is released.
