Add to a movie listThe Awful Dr. Orloff (Spanish: Gritos en la noche) is a 1962 Spanish–French horror film directed by Jesús Franco. It stars Howard Vernon as the mad Dr. Orloff (or sometimes Orlof) who wants to repair his disfigured daughter's face with skin grafts from others, with the aid of a slavish blind henchman named Morpho. The film is considered to be the earliest Spanish horror film. Howard Vernon continued to appear in a number of Franco's horror films up until his death. Franco would later feature a number of blind or disfigured henchmen named Morpho in many of his later horror films, such as Vampyos Lesbos and Revenge in the House of Usher.
Synopsis
1912. Le Dr Orlof kidnappe et emmène dans son château toute une série de jeunes femmes, des artistes de cabaret, pour une opération chirurgicale tout à fait nouvelle : il s’agit de transplanter leur peau lisse et délicate sur le visage de sa fille Melissa, défigurée lors d’un incendie dans le laboratoire de son père. Il est aidé par Morpho, un jeune assassin dont il a sauvé la vie mais qu’il a rendu aveugle et muet et dont le visage est horriblement marqué.Actors

Une jeune fille, Luisa, rend visite à sa grand-mère mourante, la baronne Karlstein, dans sa demeure. Avant de mourir, elle lui dévoile la malédiction qui pèse sur leur lignée familiale depuis des générations. A woman arrives from England to visit her estranged relatives in a small castle for the reading of her dead father's will, she eventually discovers that they are all undead and her decision to live with them turns into a nightmare.
