Set in the 1930s during Japan's colonial rule of Korea, many Korean resistance activists are based in Manchuria, northeastern China while hiding from Japanese authorities. In 1933, orders are given to assassinate Kawaguchi Mamoru, the governor of the Japanese garrison in Gyeongseong, and Kang In-gook, a pro-Japanese Korean business tycoon. For this covert mission, Yeom Seok-jin, an agent of the provisional Korean government who had broken out of prison in 1911, is tasked to do the same for three people and bring them to Shanghai: topnotch sniper Ahn Ok-yun, who's in a Manchurian jail for shooting her superior; Chu Sang-ok (nicknamed "Big Gun"), one of the last graduates of the Independence Military School and in prison after stealing guns from Chiang Kai-shek's army then selling them; and Chu's cellmate Hwang Deok-sam, an explosives specialist imprisoned for selling faulty product. The squad arrives in Gyeongseong, not knowing that one of them is secretly working for the Japanese and has hired freelance assassin Hawaii Pistol and his sidekick Old Man to kill members of the team., 2h5

Almost the entirety of the film focus on the few hours before and after Park's assassination on October 26, 1979. Undoubtedly the most controversial aspect of the film is its portrayal of Park. In the film, he is shown to be a cowardly libertine, having late-night drinking parties, pawing young women, and in particular having much admiration for Japanese culture, to the point of occasionally speaking Japanese himself. , 2h3

Suddenly, London goes dark and loses all of its electricity. There is commotion at a cinema, with people demanding their money back. The owner of the cinema, Karl Verloc (Oscar Homolka), enters through a back entrance to the living quarters above, and pretends to have been asleep and not know anything of the blackout. His wife, Mrs. Verloc (Sylvia Sidney) comes to get him and is surprised to see him, but he informs her that he had been sleeping the entire time. He instructs his wife to return the money to the customers -- against her protests -- because he has "some money coming in." As the money is about to be disbursed to the customers downstairs, the lights go back on. It is revealed that sand was put in the boilers as an act of sabotage on London's electricity grid.
