Add to a movie listThe Famous Woman (German:Die berühmte Frau) is a 1927 German silent drama film directed by Robert Wiene and starring Lili Damita, Fred Solm and Warwick Ward. It was based on the play Die Tänzerin by Melchior Lengyel, who also wrote the film's screenplay. While performing in Barcelona, a dancer falls in love with a Spanish aristocrat. He proposes marriage to her providing she give up her profession. She agrees and the wedding preparations begin. When her troupe returns to Spain, however, she is drawn back to her true calling as a dancer and her aristocratic lover reluctantly allows her to go free. Damita's performance was particularly praised, as was the cinematography of Otto Kanturek who had done location shooting in Barcelona.

Hallers est le jour un procureur qui condamne le crime et la nuit est un criminel. Le Hallers criminel tombe amoureux d'Amalie Frieben, une femme louche plus connue dans le milieu sous le surnom de "Tache de vin rouge". Le procureur Hallers est l'ennemi d'Amalie Frieben, mais elle ne le reconnaît pas et persuade le criminel d'assassiner le procureur. Avec l'aubergiste Dickert, il cambriole son propre domicile. C'est à ce moment que revient le procureur qui arrête l'aubergiste. Le trouble dissociatif de l'identité est établi et peut être soigné. Hallers fait face un long séjour dans un établissement psychiatrique, le procureur prend le dessus sur l'autre et est guéri.

A young Prince in Paris for his education, inherits the throne when his father abdicates. At his country estate, Arthur Hilton (C. Aubrey Smith) is regaling his dinner guests of his exploits as a police officer decades earlier in Africa. He keys in a case where he had to track down a gang of three men who were suspected of a series of murders. He does stumble on them, but they actually end up capturing him. Fortunately, he was able to talk his way out of that predicament, and later on tracked them down again and captured them. One was hung for his crimes, while the other two were sentenced to twenty years in prison.
