The Filth and the Fury is a 2000 British rockumentary film directed by Julien Temple. It focuses on the story of the punk rock pioneers Sex Pistols, and is considered a continuation of Temple's first documentary centered on the band, The Great Rock and Roll Swindle.

Synopsis

Insultes, crachats, irreverence et violence, le groupe Sex Pistols est l'un des plus célebres représentants du mouvement punk londonien. La folle ascension de Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, Sid Vicious et Paul Cook dans la deuxième moitié des années soixante-dix, période de grève et de misère pour la classe ouvrière de Grande-Bretagne, n'aura duré que l'espace de vingt-six mois et un seul album.

Guitarist Steve Jones plays a shady private detective who - through a series of set piece acts - uncovers the truth about the band. Drummer Paul Cook and bass guitarist Sid Vicious play smaller roles, and the band's manager, Malcolm McLaren, is featured as "The Embezzler", the man who manipulates the Sex Pistols. The film depicts the adventures of the socially incompetent Vic (played by Bowie) as he tries to win the affections of a beautiful girl by claiming to personally know her favourite rock star, Screaming Lord Byron (also played by Bowie). Rightfully disbelieving him, she challenges Vic to introduce her to him. They make a date for a Screaming Lord Byron show, where Vic attempts to sneak backstage to convince Mr. Screaming to come say hello to him and the girl after the show.
