Synopsis
Earl Stone est un paisible horticulteur âgé de plus de 80 ans, vétéran de la guerre de Corée. Endetté jusqu’au cou et sans perspective réelle d’emploi, il accepte un travail particulièrement facile et lucratif : celui de chauffeur. On lui demande seulement de transporter des sacs d'une ville à une autre au volant de son pick-up. Il découvre assez rapidement qu'il s'agit de drogue et qu'il travaille pour le compte d’un cartel mexicain : un go fast apaisé, pense-t-il. Mais alors que ses factures passent au rayon des mauvais souvenirs, le poids de son passé refait surface : aider la famille et les amis... et il ne peut s'empêcher de leur venir en aide en poursuivant cette activité. Mais il va falloir faire vite, car Colin Bates, agent de la Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), se met à traquer ce passeur efficace.Actors

Dave Garver (Clint Eastwood) is a KRML radio jockey who broadcasts nightly from a studio in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, often incorporating poetry into his program. In Los Angeles in 1928, single mother Christine Collins (Jolie) returns home to discover her nine-year-old son, Walter (Gattlin Griffith), is missing. Reverend Gustav Briegleb (Malkovich) publicizes Christine's plight and rails against the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for its incompetence, corruption and the extrajudicial punishment meted out by its "Gun Squad" led by Chief James E. Davis (Feore). Several months after Walter's disappearance, the LAPD tells Christine that he has been found alive. Believing the positive publicity will negate recent criticism of the department, the LAPD organizes a public reunion. Although "Walter" (Devon Conti) claims he is Christine's son, she says he is not. Captain J. J. Jones (Donovan), the head of the LAPD's Juvenile Division, insists the boy is Walter and pressures Christine into taking him home "on a trial basis".

Artist Jennifer Spencer and her sister are raped by a group of boys, after being betrayed by female friend Ray Parkins. The brutal rape leaves Jennifer's sister permanently catatonic.
