Synopsis
Claire, a 70-year-old woman, and her husband have a car accident in which last one dies. On the day of his funeral, Claire is reunited with Lut and Magda. In their late teens, the three were members of a rather famous music group, singing covers of Jacques Brel and other famous artists. The group split after Claire became pregnant. Claire also meets her youngest son Sid again. He absconded many years ago as his parents were only interested in their other son Michel who is now an overanxious man. Over the past years, Sid tried to become a famous R&B-artist but no recording company is interested in his work.Actors

The Flemish boys Lars, Philip and Jozef are somewhere between 20 and 30 years of age and each has a physical handicap. Jozef is almost blind and needs to use a magnifier. Philip suffers from paraplegia. He can only move his head and can use one hand which gives him the strength to control his automated wheelchair. Lars has an incurable brain tumor a side effect of which is that he is restricted to a wheelchair as a result of his increasing paralysis. The three are good friends and visit each other frequently.

Two Tokyo co-workers at a brewery, Kihachi (Takeshi Sakamoto) and Jiro (Den Obinata), go and visit a rōkyoku performance. On leaving the theater, they happen to chance on a girl Harue (Nobuko Fushimi), who is destitute with no place to go. Retired Papa Strauss, a widower, who has been a successful dye manufacturer, is being shifted around from one married-son's home to the other, and is not welcome at all because his daughter-in-laws' object to his smelly pipe smoking.
