Add to a movie listThe President's Barber (Hangul: 효자동 이발사; RR: Hyojadong Ibalsa) is a 2004 South Korean film directed by Im Chan-sang. It follows a barber, his wife, and their only son through four decades of tumultuous Korean history. Much as in Forrest Gump, we see important moments in South Korean history through the eyes of the titular barber, who is drafted to be the official barber of President Park Chung-hee. The role of the barber is played by Song Kang-ho and Moon So-ri plays his wife.
Synopsis
Dans les années 1960, Seong Han-mo (Song Kang-ho) est le seul coiffeur dans le quartier de Hyoja-dong à Séoul, où se trouve la Maison Bleue. In October 1992, an elite group of North Korean soldiers are put through a brutal training regime. With only a high school diploma, legal attorney Song Woo-suk (Song Kang-ho) is somewhat of an outcast in Busan society ruled by university connections. Choi Gon had a big hit in 1988 with his song "The Rain and You" and became one of the top stars of the 1980s, but did not handle the fame very well, acquiring bad habits and quickly spending most of his money. In 2006, now past his prime, leather-jacket-and-jeans-wearing Gon resents that the spotlight has moved on to younger entertainers, but he still lives the life of a rock star, getting into drunk driving incidents and drug scandals. The only thing Gon has left is his longtime manager and friend, Park Min-soo, who has stood by him since the peak of his career. Min-soo still manages to find Gon small gigs in little coffee shops on the outskirts of Seoul and continues to look after him and keep him out of trouble, even if that means neglecting his own family.

Japanese language teacher Mori arrives in Seoul to track down Kwon, a South Korean woman he fell for several years ago.
