The film focuses on Paige Morgan, a pre-med college student in Wisconsin, who is pursued by a prince posing as a normal college student.
The film spawned three sequels, or spin-offs created under a different writer and director, with Kam Heskin replacing Julia Stiles in the role of Paige Morgan: The Prince and Me 2: The Royal Wedding (2006), The Prince and Me: A Royal Honeymoon (2008) and The Prince and Me: The Elephant Adventure (2010).
Synopsis
Paige Morgan (Julia Stiles) is a pre-medical student at University of Wisconsin–Madison. Across the Atlantic, Denmark's Prince Edvard (Luke Mably), heir to the throne, regularly shirks his princely duties (including opening a cabinet meeting) by acting recklessly (like drag racing).Actors

A group of CIA officers watch a video presentation of a top-secret project called "Crossbow": a space shuttle mounted with a computer-guided laser weapon incinerates a man on the ground with pinpoint accuracy. Researchers on the project have yet to devise a system to generate enough power to operate it. Undercover cop Nick Dunbar's (Arliss Howard) brother Matt (Loren Dean) is accused of killing his teacher, Mr. Bradwood (Mack Harrell) at Adlai Stevenson High School. Nick loses his temper with Hechtor (Larry Pine), the detective in charge, and gets suspended. Nick's partner Ed (Seymour Cassel) pretends to be Nick's dad to enroll him as a student. Matt gives Nick pointers to get people to talk to him. Nick deals with bullies, girls with crushes on him, teachers & staff who range from quirky to bizarre, and a teacher, Robin Torrence (Suzy Amis), to whom he is attracted who thinks he's a teen. The turning point in his popularity (and therefore his ability to get information) happens in the classroom metaphor scene, in which E.E. Cummings' poem she being brand new, is used in its entirety. The character Renard (Michael Huguenor), who had a large part in the script but was mostly edited out of the film, makes his only appearance in this scene.
