The film is set in 1901, and is based on events surrounding the growing Macedonian resistance to the Ottoman Empire. Resistance groups known as "Komiti" show the readiness of the Macedonian people to fight for freedom. At the same time different religious missions are trying to expand their influence among the people. Thessaloniki is the center of the American Protestant mission in Macedonia. The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (ВМРО Внатрешна Македонска Револуционарна Организација) abducted U.S. Protestant missionary Miss Stone (Olga Spiridonovikj) led by Yane Sandanski (Ilija Milcin) and his unit. The group demanded 25 pounds of gold to release her. They wanted her to sign the demand. She flatly refuses, but after going through several battles with Turkish forces, she stands on the side of guerrillas and signs the letter. The gold is eventually provided.

The film starts with the publication of general mobilization in Serbia on July 26, 1914 in Belgrade. An artillery second lieutenant, who comes from a wealthy banking family, was assigned to the artillery battery. During the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913, he was a member of the Commission, which had provided guns for the army. His family now wants to put him in the commission again. He wants to join the battery and go to war instead.

Andrei Bolkonsky In St. Petersburg of 1805, Pierre Bezukhov, the illegitimate son of a rich nobleman, is introduced to high society. The film takes place in the 1890s, with 2 men, one younger and the other much older, attacking and killing travelers camping in plains of the Wild West. After killing several men at a campsite by slitting their throats open, they steal their valuables and begin burning unneeded books and possessions. However, they desist after hearing a bizarre series of howls in the distance, and make for a nearby valley to avoid any pursuers. While traversing the valley, they come across a burial site, where the older man is attacked and savagely killed by an unseen figure. The younger man fires upon the figure as it charges at him, and the film cuts to black.
