The Tough and the Mighty (Italian: Barbagia) is a 1969 Italian drama film directed by Carlo Lizzani. It is based on the real life events of Italian bandit Graziano Mesina.
Synopsis
Dans l'arrière-pays sarde, il existe des règles particulières, indépendantes de celles du reste de l'île. Graziano Cassitta commet un meurtre de vengeance, se retrouve en prison et s'échappe avec l'espagnol Miguel Lopez. Se cachant, les deux forment un gang et mènent ensemble des enlèvements et autres actes de banditisme jusqu'à ce que Miguel meure dans une fusillade avec la police. Graziano parvient à échapper à la capture, mais après un court laps de temps, arrêté à un point de contrôle, il est arrêté par la police.Actors

Loosely based on actual events during World War II, the film depicts real life German Captain Bernhard Rogge commanding the navy raider Atlantis, which from May 1940 to November 1941 sank 22 Allied merchant ships. The story alternates between scenes at the Admiralty and scenes at sea, particularly showing Captain Rogge's humanity and chivalrous conduct of his military engagements. Rogge was one of the few German flag rank officers who was not arrested by the Allies after the war, due to his conduct as a military officer. After eighteen months of successful raids, Atlantis was sunk on 22 November 1941 by the British cruiser Devonshire.

Sicile, 1961. L'officier Bellodi, des Carabiniers doit mener une enquête sur le meurtre de Salvatore Colasberna, un chef d'entreprise de bâtiments assassiné pour avoir refusé de confier un chantier à une entreprise protégée par la mafia. Le meurtre s'est produit près de l'habitation de Rosa Nicolosi, de son mari et de leur petite fille. Le capitaine Bellodi parvient à arracher à Rosa l'aveu que son mari lui a confié avoir vu le long de la route, le jour du crime, un certain « Zecchinetta », nom qui est confirmé par un informateur de la police, « Parrinieddu ». Entre-temps, le boss (chef, capo en italien) local de la mafia, Don Mariano Arena, cherche à déguiser le meurtre de Colasberna en crime passionnel et fait remonter les pistes vers Nicolosi : il a tué le chef d'entreprise en tant qu'amant de sa femme. Le capitaine ne croit pas à cette version et cherche le corps de Nicolosi, dont il pense qu'il a été tué comme témoin gênant ; de corps, il ne trouvera que celui de « Parrinieddu », tué parce que compromis. L'enquête aboutit à l'arrestation de Don Mariano mais, grâce à ses accointances politiques, il est libéré et Bellodi est transféré.
