La Tragédie de la rue (titre original : Dirnentragödie, littéralement « Drame de catin ») est un film muet dramatique allemand réalisé par Bruno Rahn, sorti en 1927.

Synopsis

Félix, un jeune étudiant, quitte le domicile de ses parents après une dispute et est recueilli dans la rue par Auguste, une prostituée vieillissante, qui l'installe dans son appartement. Au fil des années, elle s'est lassée, est blasée et désabusée, résignée à son sort. Elle n'attend pas beaucoup de la vie et se fait exploiter sans se plaindre par son souteneur, le brutal Anton. Elle voit dans le garçon une nouvelle chance dans sa vie, le rêve d'un avenir commun et meilleur.

When the Lucasta family in Pennsylvania receives a message that a friend's son Rudolf is coming to town to find a wife, they see a chance to make some money. Le mariage de l'architecte Ernstein n'est pas heureux. Bien que sa femme ait de l'argent, elle ne l'aime pas et ne se soucie pas de son travail. Même lorsqu'il reçoit un diplôme honorifique pour l'une de ses œuvres, elle se montre désintéressée. Une employée de son cabinet Paula Müller, au contraire, est inspirée par le travail de son patron et profite de chaque occasion pour observer ses créations. Ernstein et Paula se rapprochent et tous les deux passent un dimanche ensemble. Mme Ernstein apprend le jour suivant de ses amies que la veille son mari avec Paula sont entrés ensemble dans un hôtel. Jalouse, elle obtient le licenciement de Paula et réussit à la faire expulser de son logement la faisant passer auprès de la propriétaire de l'immeuble pour une femme de mœurs légères.
