Up the River (1938) is a prison comedy film starring Preston Foster and Arthur Treacher and featuring Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. The movie was directed by Alfred L. Werker and is a remake of a 1930 film with the same title directed by John Ford and starring Spencer Tracy and Humphrey Bogart in the roles subsequently played by Foster and Tony Martin.

Since the men lack every kind of transportation, they come up with the desperate idea of traveling as escort to a coffin and an undertaker’s railroad transport of a corpse out of town to Dayton, Ohio. The corpse will still be in the coffin, of course, but they at least get the transport for free.

Mary Smith est institutrice dans la petite ville de Battleburo, elle est fiancée à Clem Porter et ils doivent se marier en septembre.
