Nasbandi is a 1978 Bollywood satirical comedy film directed by I. S. Johar, it starred duplicates of all popular heroes of the time. It is a satire on the sterilization drive of the government of India: each of the characters is trying to find sterilization cases.

The film was banned after its released due to its portrayal of the Indira Gandhi government and its policy of compulsory sterilization during the emergency period. Later, however, the film achieved cult popularity via home video and satellite broadcast (the ban was lifted after the change of regime).

Advocate Rai Bahadur is a respected lawyer, who has no children. He has an affair with a prostitute Meher who then becomes pregnant with his child. His wife also get pregnant at the same time and both his wife and Meher give birth to baby boys in the same hospital and same day. When Rai Bahadur came to know that Meher also gave birth to his son, he went to meet her in hospital but Meher warns him of dire consequences if he will not give his son his due rights. She blackmail him and ask her to change her baby with his wife's baby. Helpless Rai Bahadur ask a nurse to change the babies and offered money. Nurse agreed but later her conscience does not allow her to do the wrongful. She did not change the babies but said Rai Bahadur that she has changed the babies. Now Rai Bahadur thinks that the boy in his house "Kishore" is from prostitute Meher and the boy with Meher is from his wife. He start dislike his son "Kishor" in his Bungalow and star liking the other one "Pran". He somehow throw "Kishore" with his mother out of the bungalow and bring "Pran" mistaking "Pran" as from his wife. Now "Kishore" raised in poor life with both Meher and Mrs Rai Bahadur and "Pran" raised in bungalow. Both become boxers in the same boxing club. Kishore always betters Pran but denied his right every time due to Pran's unfair tricks.

Anil (Ajit), sees his parents killed in front of him during the violence of partition and flees with his sister Kamala (Roopmala), and young brother Munna. Having to leave everything behind them in Pakistan, they enter India as refugees and take shelter in a temple. When Munna falls sick, Anil goes to the Mahant (priest) Tulsiram (Ulhas) for help. The priest has no time for the poor, and refuses to visit the sick child. An infuriated Anil attacks the priest, who calls the police and has him arrested. His brother dies and Kamala is forced to bcome a singing girl (Tawaif) by Vinod Kumar (Raj Mehra) and his henchman (Mehmood). When Anil comes out of prison he is devastated to find his brother dead and his sister a courtesan. The sister kills herself out of shame. Anil vows vengeance on the priest and Vinod. His belief in god is lost and he becomes an atheist, deriding god and priests. His friend from jail, Joker (I. S. Johar) is with him. Tulsiram on finding out that Anil has vowed vengeance on him, is on the run with his daughter. He goes on a pilgrimage with Anil and Joker in pursuit. Joker thanks God that at least this way an atheist will also perform a pilgrimage.

Pregnant Mary is about to be married to Peter when he is asked to re-join his regiment to go to war. But he does not come back and is assumed to be dead. Poornima (Naaz), a young orphan girl stays with her Aunt Shankri in a village called Neecha Nagar, at the foothills of Pawan Ghat. Her grandfather, Chacha Sagar (Bipin Gupta), whom she rarely meets, lives a lonely existence atop the hill in a cottage. Shankri is a greedy conniving woman, and instead of having to take care of Poonima, she leaves her with her grandfather. Here Poornima meets a young goatherd, Jaggu (Romi), who brings his goats for grazing every day and returns to his blind mother (Pratima Devi) in Neecha Nagar at sunset. Jaggu and Poornima become friends and develop a close bond. Shankri enters Poornima's life again, as she intends to put her in service so she can earn money. In spite of her grandfather objecting, Shankri puts Poornima to work in Seth Girja Shankar's (Ulhas) house in the city.
