We Are the Marines is a 1942 full-length documentary film produced by The March of Time. It was directed by Louis De Rochemont and distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Synopsis

The early portions of the film deal with the history of the Corps, from Colonial times to the 1942. The film's midsection details the arduous training procedure of the Few and the Proud at Parris Island and elsewhere. Finally, wartime newsreel footage is adroitly blended with dramatized re-enactments to illustrate the contributions, and the utter necessity of the marines in World War II.

The film begins with a male narrator (Ray Milland) explaining where Midway Island is and its strategic importance. About five minutes into the film the format changes somewhat, with more leisurely pictures of the G.I.s at work on the island, and then a female voice over. The female voice over (Verna Felton) takes the personality of a middle aged woman from Springfield, Ohio, who is a mother-type figure pointing out how she recognizes a boy from her home town. The boy is Army Air Force pilot William E. "Junior" Kinney. Then stock footage of the Kinney family back home is introduced.

Ce dessin animé est une parodie de l'histoire bien connue des Trois Petits Cochons, produit dans le ton de la propagande anti-nazis de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Dans ce dessin animé, les cochons partent en guerre contre Adolf le Loup (sous les traits d’Adolf Hitler), qui menace d'envahir Cochonland (Pigmania dans la version américaine). Les deux cochons qui construisent leurs maisons en paille et en bois déclarent qu'ils n'ont pas besoin de prendre des précautions contre le loup puisqu'ils ont signé un Pacte de non-agression avec lui. Le cochon qui construit sa maison en pierre, le Sergent Pur Porc (Sergeant Pork dans la version américaine) prend ses précautions et renforce sa maison avec un puissant dispositif de défense composé de barbelés, de bunkers, d'obusiers et de tranchées.

The Sea Raiders, a band of foreign agents, led by Carl Tonjes and Elliott Carlton, blow up a freighter on which Billy Adams and Toby Nelson are stowaways, seeking to avoid Brack Warren, a harbor patrol officer assigned to guard a new type of torpedo boat built by Billy's brother, Tom Adams. Kay Miniver (Greer Garson) and her family live a comfortable life at a house called 'Starlings' in Belham, a fictional village outside London.
