Synopsis
A naked man (Bruno Slagmulder) wakes up in a luxury loft, which is a residential building in an unidentified European city, after a particularly wild New Year's Eve party of the year 2000. He finds a naked woman (Denise Aron-Schropfer) in his bed, and obviously he does not recognize or remember her. He walked naked through the apartment and discovers a pair of partygoers – two young boys, identical twins (Lionel Le Guevellou and Olivier Le Guevellou), in a sleeping bag, hugging each other. He looks out the window and recognizes a man (Flavien Coupeau) and woman (Lucia Sanchez) making love in the apartment across the street, while the woman who was sleeping beside him wakes up, and takes a bath. While he looks at what is happening across the street, he falls off the table he was sitting on, and lands on the floor, breaking a glass. This noise wakes up the twins. He goes into the kitchen to throw the pieces of broken glass away, and discovers ants underneath the garbage can. He goes into the bathroom and tells the women in the bath about the plague of ants in the kitchen.Actors

A 50-year-old business man Léopold (Bernard Giraudeau) arrives home with 20-year-old Franz (Malik Zidi), whom he has just met. Franz is not quite sure why he agreed to come home with Léopold as he is supposed to be meeting his fiancée Anna, but he accepts drinks from Léopold and they begin to get to know each other. Franz tells Léopold that he is not sure whether or not he loves Anna, that he does not really enjoy sex with her, finding more pleasure in books, theatre and life in general. Léopold asks him if he has ever slept with a man. Franz says he has not, but describes a dream where a man comes into his bedroom in an overcoat and has sex with him. Léopold says that although he once lived with a woman for seven years, he has always found sex with men more exciting. They kiss, and Léopold tells Franz to get undressed and into bed. He then appears beside the bed in an overcoat ready to re-enact Franz's dream.

Katie, une femme ordinaire élevant seule sa fille de sept ans Lisa et travaillant comme ouvrière sur une chaîne de montage dans une usine chimique, rencontre sur son lieu de travail Paco avec qui elle vit une histoire d'amour. Paco s'installe dans le modeste appartement HLM de banlieue de Katie. De cette union naît un bébé, Ricky, conçu lors d'un rapport sexuel dans les toilettes de l'usine chimique. Katie s'inquiète des ecchymoses qui apparaissent sur le dos de son nourrisson et suspecte Paco de le frapper, si bien que ce dernier outragé quitte le domicile familial. Ricky est en fait être un bébé extraordinaire (ange ou monstre ?) avec des ailes qui lui poussent dans le dos. Finalement le bébé prend son envol, et les médias voyeuristes s'emparent de cette attraction lorsque Ricky voltige dans un supermarché. Paco convainc Katie de montrer le bébé volant à la presse pour relâcher la pression médiatique et gagner de l'argent qui leur permettrait d'acheter une maison plus grande pour le bébé. Ricky profite de l'occasion pour s'envoler au-dessus d'un lac. Croyant l'enfant perdu, Paco se résigne mais Katie, désespérée, retourne au lac pour se suicider. Ricky réapparaît quelques instants, le visage heureux tel un ange, pour rassurer sa mère mais doit à nouveau s'envoler car il n'a pas sa place dans cette société. Ricky se révèle ainsi l’être transitionnel permettant à Lisa d’accepter son beau-père et à Katie, toujours dans la crainte de ne pas être à la hauteur, de devenir une mère et une femme heureuse dans son corps et son esprit, comme le montre la scène finale dans laquelle Lisa se blottit dans le dos de Paco et Katie, sereine, est enceinte d'un nouveau bébé.

Sarah Morton, a middle-aged English mystery author, who has written a successful series of novels featuring a single detective, is having writer's block that is impeding her next book. Sarah's publisher, John Bosload, offers her his country house near Lacoste, France for some rest and relaxation. 1977. Dans la petite ville fictive de Sainte-Gudule, située dans le Nord, près de Saint-Amand-les-Eaux, l'usine de parapluies Pujol-Michonneau est dirigée par un patron réactionnaire et misogyne, Monsieur Pujol (Fabrice Luchini), qui a épousé la fille Michonneau, Suzanne (Catherine Deneuve). Cette dernière, surnommée « la potiche » par sa propre fille, supporte sans broncher le mauvais caractère, les vexations et les infidélités de son mari, notamment la relation qu’il entretient avec sa secrétaire, Nadège (Karin Viard). Pujol est excédé par le climat social exécrable qui règne dans son usine. Le député-maire communiste de la ville, Maurice Babin (Gérard Depardieu) ne se prive pas de souffler sur les braises. Un jour les ouvriers déclenchent une grève sans préavis qui débouche sur la séquestration de Pujol. Il fait une grave attaque cardiaque. Dans l'attente de son rétablissement, sa « potiche » de femme décide, à la surprise générale, de prendre la direction de l'entreprise. Et, à la surprise générale, elle s'en tire plutôt bien.

The Englishwoman Sasha lives on Île d'Yeu near France with her ten-month-old daughter and her husband, who is often away for business. One day, when Sasha is home alone, the drifter Tatiana appears at Sasha's door and asks her for permission to pitch her tent in the garden. At first reserved and reluctant, Sasha eventually allows her this and both women begin to develop a relationship with each other. Sasha decides to go shopping and leaves Sioffra in Tatiana's care. When, upon her return, she finds everything in order, she finally invites Tatiana inside her house, even though she is irritated by Tatiana's unusual behavior.
