Yarukku Maappillai Yaro (Tamil: யாருக்கு மாப்பிள்ளை யாரோ) is a 1975 Indian Tamil film, directed by S. P. Muthuraman and produced by A. Nanjappan. The film stars Jaishankar, Jayachitra, Sreekanth and Fatafat Jayalaxmi in lead roles. The film had musical score by Vijaya Bhaskar.

The movie name, meaning a square inside a circle, symbolizes the situation of the character Anu's (Latha) life. Anu falls in love with Karthik (Sreekanth), the brother of her best friend Malathy (Sumithra) from childhood. Kartik doesn't like her, since she was born out of wedlock. Malathy has always done well in school and wishes to continue studying further. Kartik and Malathy's mother tries to get her married. Anu suggests that she could take her along to Chennai, where she could continue studying while Anu pursues a dancing career. Anu has to compromise and get along with her hotel managers to get a dancing contract to earn money to educate Malathy. Meanwhile, Malathy’s fiancée doesn't approve of her friendship with a club dancer, and asks Malathy to cut Anu out of her life. Though Malathy doesn't approve of her friend's way of earning a living, she cannot throw away 15 years of friendship. Malathy decides to cancel the marriage proposal in order to save her friendship. Anu goes to extreme measures to save her friend's love life.

The story revolves around five people. Kamal Haasan, a city bred is married to Sumithra, a village girl. On the other hand Vijayakumar, a village lad and Phataphat Jayalakshmi, a modern woman are married. Jayalakshmi hates living with her husband (Vijayakumar) and eyes Kamal Haasan. Meanwhile Sripriya, a young girl wants at least to have a child with Kamal Haasan, attracted by him even if he doesn't marry her. Kalicharan (Rajinikanth) lives a poor lifestyle with his widowed mother. He falls in love with a girl called Sumathi (Sheeba Akashdeep), but because of his poor background Suman's wealthy father, Mukesh (Nagesh), is not ready to accept him. Kalicharan also gets into hot water with Mukesh as he opposes his men who were planning to demolish some huts. Mukesh and his partner (Jaiganesh) devise a plan to kill Kalicharan by tricking him into believing that he was going to marry him to Suman. The plan works and they eventually succeed in killing him. Kalicharan's spirit goes to the underworld and meets the Lord of Death himself, Yamadharma Raja (Vinu Chakravarthy). Kalicharan explains Yama the whole ordeal and that his death was a mistake, so Yama transports him back to an identical body of a mild-mannered villager, Balwant Balu, whose life is threatened by his paternal uncle and aunt, who are trying to kill him.
