Zinda Lash (The Living Corpse) is a 1932 Indian costume drama directed by Premankur Atorthy. The film was produced by New Theatres Ltd. Calcutta. The cast of the film included K. L. Saigal, Rattan Bai, Pahari Sanyal, Mahajabin, Nawab, Kumar, and Radharani. The music direction was by R. C. Boral. B. N. Sircar started New Theatres Ltd. Calcutta in 1930 and produced his first film in Bengali, Dena Paona in 1931. In 1932 he produced films in Hindi where he introduced K. L. Saigal to Indian Cinema. The first was Mohabbat Ke Ansu, and the second was Zinda Lash both directed by Premankur Atorthy. K. L. Saigal changed his name for his first three films and was billed as Saigal Kashmiri to prevent his family from finding out his profession. This film like his earlier Mohabbat Ke Ansu was not successful at the box-office.

Prince Ezra (Nawab) is a Jewish merchant persecuted by the Romans, especially the Roman Priest Brutus. Ezra lives with his seven-year-old son Yameen. Pervez K. L. Saigal, heir to the throne of Kascand flees from his kingdom when he finds that his mother (Shyama Zutshi) along with the Wazir (Gul Hamid), has arranged his marriage with the princess (Rajkumari) of Bijapore. Tikkim, wants to marry the princess and he has her kidnapped by the qypsies. Pervez during his escape meets some qypsies who have the kidnapped princess with them. He joins the gypsies and travels with them as a commoner. Zarina (Rattan Bai) one of the gypsy girl falls in love with Pervez. Pervez and the princess find out the truth about each other and fall in love. Together, they defeat the villain Tikkim.

Indranath’s son is ill, Guru Omkarananda suggests he pray to the goddess Kamala. His son improves but bad luck follows Indranath; his son and daughter die. Unable to stand the grief the Queen/Kalyani loses her mental equilibrium. Goddess Kamala manifests as Rupasi, the daughter of Omkarananda. Virodhananda and his son Tribhanga are the incarnation of Narad and Narayan on earth. The kingdom goes through difficult times. Omkarananda is arrested and Rupasi goes to meet Bastabesh/Indranath who is attracted to her. Rupasi takes refuge in Birodhananda’s house to avoid Bastabesh’s advances. Birodhananda is interested in getting his son Tribhanga married to Rupasi. Bastabesh goes after Rupasi/Kamala who blinds him. Finally the gods perform their miracle and a repentant Bastabesh is restored his sight and kingdom.

Madhavi (Rattan Bai) is married to Kedar (Hafisji). The rich Chandra (Pramila) enters their life and since Kedar wants to marry her, he asks Madhavi to leave. Chandra is in love with the artist Kumar (Master Vinayak), but is forced into marriage with Kedar. Madhavi takes to begging on the streets by singing. She meets Kumar and models as his muse. Kumar and Madhavi fall in love but Chandra enters their life and Madhavi has to leave again. This time she becomes a famous singing star. After several dramatic situations Kumar and Madhavi reunite and get married.
