In the glitzy entertainment capital of Mumbai as dusk descends, actress Sana Azim (Kangana Ranaut) slits her wrists in a hotel room, in an attempt to kill herself. When this news reaches film-maker Aditya Garewal (Shiney Ahuja), he is devastated. Aditya has been searching for Sana, who was intensely involved with him and who had mysteriously disappeared from his life without any explanation, three years ago, only to surface now in what could be the last moments of her life.

The group, along with their teacher Mr. Argento (Mike Wittlin), meet Captain J.T. Bates (Burt Young) who takes them to the island on his boat. Here, the group meet the eccentric couple Vincent King (Sean Kanan) and Mary Shelley (Juliet Landau) who they will be staying with. Mary begins to film the group on her hand-held recorder, saying that she is an aspiring director.
Animal experimentation footage is shown, followed by a video of a man dismembering a female body in a bathtub. It is implied that the man masturbates after the corpse has been sufficiently mutilated. Next, someone browses an extreme porn website, and clicks on the link for "Snuff Fantasy". Images of animals and people (mostly women) being tortured and killed clutter the screen, followed by a video of a pig being stabbed in the throat. A man asks "Until what point are you willing to watch? In other words, what do you want to watch?" A bound, bloodied and crying woman in her undergarments is shown in a washroom. She gets up, moves the shower's curtain, and screams as the door is flung open.
A leading Hollywood star is attracted to Britain to play the title role in King Lear at "Stratford" believing he will be appearing onstage at the prestigious RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Instead he finds he has signed on with the "Stratford Players" in the Suffolk village of Stratford St John. He goes to Britain with his career on the downturn and having problems with his daughter who is an aspiring actress on the fringes of the New York theatre world. The local villagers are somewhat of a motley crew and are naturally delighted to have such an - albeit fading - star playing with them. Reynolds plays a typically brash American with no time for manners, and displays an appalling lack of class, considering himself too big for this lowly setting. The transition to humble actor, happy to play with the British actors takes some time, but eventually Reynolds is reconciled with his estranged daughter and accepts that he is no better, in terms of spirit and enthusiasm, than his amateur colleagues.
