Don is a fictional character, and the titular role in the Don (film series). Don is a mafia lord portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan in first film and Shah Rukh Khan in rest of the film series.
Throughout the series, Don is the main antagonist. He is the central character of the series despite being the villain. In the Bachchan version of the film, Don's character is quite short, immediately replaced by the character Vijay, while in the Khan version, the film focuses on Don, while Vijay's character is relatively short.
Khan experimented with a variety of looks, including long unkempt hair and a stubble. In order to prepare for his role, Khan exercised extensively and performed most of the stunts himself.
Biography
The titular protagonist of the series. He is a powerful crime boss, who in spite of being one of the most wanted on the list of Interpol, remains elusive to the police. Though not evil, he is still hated because of his activities. Along with the police, Don makes a few other enemies through his merciless approach to running his organization, especially when he kills one of his own men, Ramesh, when Ramesh decides to leave the business. This introduces Don to two new enemies, Kamini, Ramesh’s fiancee, and Roma, Ramesh’s sister.
In 1978 film, after a couple of unsuccessful attempts at nabbing Don, the police finally succeed, but Don dies during the pursuit, botching Officer D’Silva’s plan to reach the source of all crime—the man Don reported to—through capturing Don alive. D’Silva buries Don’s body, ensuring that people believe that he may still be alive. Then he looks for a lookalike to Don, a street dancer Vijay.
In 2006 film, after a couple of unsuccessful attempts at nabbing Don, the police finally succeed, but Don is heavily injured during the pursuit. D'Silva looks for a lookalike to Don, a poor man Vijay. D'Silva takes Vijay to the hospital in which Don was admitted and creates injury marks on his body through surgery, while Don seemingly dies from heart attack.
In the climax, it is revealed that Vijay died from heart attack, and Don posed as Vijay, also that D'Silva is a criminal named Vardhaan.
In 2011 film, Don tries to take over European trade business and successfully becomes the king of the European underworld.
