Maciste est un personnage de fiction créé en 1913 par Gabriele d'Annunzio et Giovanni Pastrone dans le film Cabiria en tant que simple personnage secondaire, mais qui devient ensuite le héros d'une vingtaine de films dans les années 1910-1930 et 1960-1970. Héros solitaire, toujours au service du bien, il est connu pour ses prouesses physiques qui font de lui l'un des héros musclés des péplums du milieu du siècle. In ancient Greece, a race of evil aliens from the Moon land on Earth. For years they have terrorized the nearby city of Samar, demanding children for sacrifice in hopes their spilled blood can revive their dead queen. Now, the queen of Samar has made a pact with the Moon men to conquer the world and become the most powerful woman alive. Hercules argues with his father Zeus who thinks that his son should follow the road of virtue. Instead, Hercules follows the road of pleasure which leads him to the city of Lydia. There he falls in love with the princess Omphale and he asks from her mother Nemea permission to marry her. Although Nemea is thrilled with the idea of having a demigod as a husband for her daughter, Omphale doesn't even want to hear about it because she is in love with Inor the barbarian prince. So the couple crafts a cunning plan.

Le roi Philippe IV de Nogara meurt de la peste et sa succession reste ouverte. Ses deux nièces, Isabella Calderon de Nogara et Malva Guttierez de Nogara, sont en lice pour obtenir le titre de reine. Malva se doute que le testament de son oncle donnera le trône à sa cousine Isabella qui a toujours été sa préférée. Queen Capys is doomed to a life of slavery by the Powers of Darkness until the last descendant of Ulysses is put to death to please the Cyclops. This is almost accomplished in a raid on a village by the Queen's soldiers where a descendant of Ulysses is killed and his wife enslaved; however, their infant son is taken away to be protected by Maciste.
