Abner Pastoll (born 12 February 1982) is a British film director and screenwriter born in South Africa, where his family used to own a cinema.
His short film Me or the Dog (2011), starring Edward Hogg and featuring the voice of Martin Clunes, premiered out of competition at the 2011 Festival de Cannes in the short film sidebar Coup de Coeur (favourites). It was subsequently nominated for Best Comedy at the 2012 London Short Film Festival, released theatrically in London and screened in competition at LA Shorts Fest, Atlantic Film Festival, Anchorage, Asheville, Emden, Berlin Shorts and the Bradford Film Festival where it was described as "Imaginative... Exploring mental illness and fidelity, [it's] light viewing with dark underlying subject-matter."
His credits include the short films The Secret Wish (2007), Homicide: Division B (2008), and A Great Mistake (2010) which was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2011 Shanghai International Film Festival.
Abner runs production company February Films with producer Junyoung Jang (co-producer of The Host (2006 film)). He has several feature films in development as writer-director, the first of which is planned to shoot in Europe in the summer of 2013.
