Il est né à Peckham à Londres, il est le fils de Sarah Ann O'Leary et de William Burke. Il fut éduqué à la Leo Street Boy's School puis à la Waltham Central School. Kim (Ravi Sheth) is a 13-year-old street orphan in Lahore of the 19th century (1894). Kim thinks he is native, but he's actually of British origin, the son of an Irish soldier and an unknown mother (unlike the novel on which it is based, Kim's mother is not portrayed as Irish, but it is made clear that Kim is white). Kim is hired as a guide by a travelling Tibetan lama (Peter O'Toole) on a search for a river where Budda hurled an arrow, turning it into a place of redemption. When he finds his father's regiment and the British military discover his origins and his real name, Kimball O'Hara, he's placed in an English college. His nature, however, is opposed to the regimentation expected for the son of a British soldier, and he rebels. His familiarity with Indian life and his ability to pass as an Indian child allows him to function as a spy for the British as they attempt to thwart revolution and invasion of India. Rejoining his holy man, Kim is trained by an Englishman called Babu (John Rhys Davies) to become a British spy and receives orders from a British Colonel (Julian Glover) who assigns him a risky mission in the Big Game, the behind-the-scenes struggle between Imperial Britain and Russia for supremacy in Afghanistan and Central Asia. He also befriends an astute Afghan horse-dealer named Mahbub Ali (Bryan Brown), a British Secret Service agent, who helps him with his task.

Israeli premier David Ben-Gurion approves a Mossad operation to be led by Isser Harel to kidnap Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi mass murderer. Harel's team travels to Argentina to track down Ricardo Klement, who they believe is Eichmann. They soon discover that the Klement family moved two months before. Primo, a local contact, goes to their former residence and gets a lead to Dieter, one of Eichmann's sons. They arrange for a bellboy to deliver a parcel to Dieter, addressed to another son, Nicholas. They trail Dieter, but he goes to the dentist instead of his house. Michael, the agent in charge, sends the bellboy back to the Klements' old address, and he learns their new one. Harel is told that Israel has been invited to send a delegation to Argentina's 150th celebration of its independence, so a special flight can be sent, on which Eichmann can be smuggled out of the country. The Mossad finally spot Eichmann, and Harel flies to Argentina to take over the operation. The Mossad rent three houses near Buenos Aires. They snatch Eichmann off the street and take him to one of the houses. Dieter Eichmann contacts other local Nazis for help in finding his father. The Israeli agents watching Eichmann are conflicted: they want to kill him, but their orders are to bring him back alive. The Israeli special plane arrives. Meanwhile, Michael interrogates Eichmann about his role in the Holocaust. Michael thinks they are on the verge of being caught by the police and should kill Eichmann while they can, but the others talk him out of it. When it is time to leave, they drug Eichmann and disguise him as an Israeli mechanic injured in an accident. A policeman in the pay of the Nazis tries to stop the takeoff, but they persuade the airport officials to let the flight proceed. The plane returns to Israel, where Eichmann is tried, found guilty of crimes against humanity, and executed.

Ten-year-old Joey Fane returns home from the special school he has attended since the death of his toddler sister. Joe Newman returns to his small hometown in Bavaria, after living in England since the outbreak of World War II. He seeks information of what has become of his father. He finds out that his father is dead, but that he escaped from behind the Iron Curtain and went to live with a certain Dr. von Brecht, and that he later married a woman named Lisa. Everywhere Joe turns to find answers people, including Police Inspector Hofmeister and insurance agent Brenner, are reluctant to talk and give more details concerning the circumstances surrounding his father, and Joe begins to suspect that this is a cover-up and that the people want to keep certain facts regarding his father a secret. Joe breaks into von Brecht's home and finds an old man in the attic. He is knocked unconscious before he can learn the old man's identity. When he regains consciousness, Joe sees the old man being driven away by von Brecht, Brenner, and Lisa. Joe tracks them to a railway station and discovers that the man is a renowned scientist who was forced to switch places with his father just before the father's death. Following a battle with Brenner, Joe rescues the scientist from being abducted to the East and helps him escape the country.
