Born in Huancayo, Junín Region, Picho studied at the Escuela Nacional Superior de Arte Dramático and began his career in 1983. Picho also taught playwriting at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the University of Lima.
Aristóteles Picho died of a heart attack on 21 December 2013, aged 57, in Lima, Lima Province.

The plot follows Captain Pantaleón Pantoja, a straightlaced army captain put in charge of creating a brothel for the army, in order to reduce the incidence of rape surrounding army bases and outposts. The first half of the movie focuses on the humor of the situation, as Pantaleon runs the brothel like an efficient branch of the army. The second half is more dramatic as the captain is changed by running the army brothel and focuses on his relationship with the prostitute Olga "the Colombian".

Au début des années 1980, l'armée péruvienne tente de reprendre le petit village de Chuspi dans la région d'Ayacucho, contrôlé par l'organisation Sentier lumineux. Sans stratégie ni autorité suffisante, Vitin Luna et ses jeunes collègues sont confrontés à une armée invisible qui semble être plus puissante qu’eux. L’arrivée du sévère lieutenant Roca semble apporter les moyens de vaincre les révolutionnaires, mais Vitin Luna est bientôt dubitatif devant ses méthodes brutales.
