Chris Lang is a writer, actor and producer for British television.

He has written for many British television series but is best known as the writer, creator and executive producer of Undeniable starring Peter Firth and Claire Goose, (April 2014), A Mother's Son starring Hermione Norris, Paul McGann and Martin Clunes (September 2012) which was nominated for a Broadcast Award, 2 and re-made as a single film for TF1 in France, as Tu Es Mon Fils (April 2015) starring Anne Marivin, and Torn, starring Holly Aird and Nicola Walker, which was nominated for an RTS award.

Lang's drama writing career started with The Bill, for which he wrote many episodes, and for which he won a Writer's Guild award. He went on to write episodes for shows including Casualty, Soldier Soldier, The Knock, Reach for the Moon, The Palace, POW, Primeval, Hustle and most recently The Tunnel for Sky Atlantic. In 2001 he wrote and created his first original drama series The Glass, starring John Thaw and Sarah Lancashire. Since then his original dramas have included Sirens, Unconditional Love, Amnesia (which was nominated for an Edgar Award), Lawless, and The Reckoning. In 2007 he co-founded the production company TXTV, for which he executive produced The Little House and most of his original work. In March 2015 he began filming a six part serial for ITV called 'Unforgotten', which he created, wrote and will co-executive produce. The series stars Nicola Walker, Trevor Eve, Sir Tom Courtenay, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Bernard Hill.

He trained as an actor at RADA, graduating in 1983, and as an actor worked on such British television series as Shadow of the Noose, Drop the Dead Donkey, Outside Edge, A Dance to the Music of Time and All Along the Watchtower. In his youth, he formed a comedy revue called The Jockeys of Norfolk with Andy Taylor and Hugh Grant. As a voice actor, he has contributed to films (such as A Monkey's Tale), and the Children's television series Kipper the Dog.

Lang was an early member of The Housemartins (for whom he also played drums) alongside school friends Quentin Cook (AKA Norman Cook – Fatboy Slim) and Paul Heaton. He left the band in 1984 to be replaced by Hugh Whitaker, former drummer with The Gargoyles.

Chris Lang est diplômé en 1983 de la Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Il débute comme acteur dans des séries télévisées. Dans les années 1990, il devient scénariste en écrivant plusieurs épisodes du feuilleton télévisé britannique The Bill pour lesquels il est récompensé par un prix de la Writers' Guild of Great Britain.

Il écrit les scénarios de nombreuses séries britanniques mais est surtout connu comme créateur, scénariste et producteur de la série Unforgotten. Il crée également en 2012 la mini-série A Mother's Son, adaptée et traduite en français par Tu es mon fils et Undeniable en 2014 dont l'adaptation française est Quand je serai grande je te tuerai.
