The film opens with Michael Landon, Jr. as a child (Shawn Pyfrom) living a comfortable and happy life with his family; his father, Bonanza star Michael Landon, Sr. (John Schneider), his mother, Lynn Noe Landon (Cheryl Ladd), and his elder sister, Leslie Landon (Rachel Duncan).
