Deirdre Quinn (born 1973) is an American actress, known for her role as Miss Texas in the 2000 film Miss Congeniality.

Biography

Quinn grew up outside of Philadelphia, and is a graduate of Germantown Academy. She is a graduate in Theatre from Lynchburg College and NYU. She is known rfor her roles as "Texas" Tina in the television series Heroes and Miss Texas, Sandra Bullock's roommate in the mega comedy hit, Miss Congeniality (2000), as well as her starring roles in, Aces 'N' Eights, The Last Dance, The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: NY to name a few.

Quinn married Brett Karns on April 4, 2004. Their wedding was featured in the Summer 2005 edition of American bridal magazine Inside Weddings.

The film opens with a flashback to Gracie Hart's childhood. Gracie (Mary Ashleigh Green) is in a school playground where one boy is bullying another. She steps in and beats up the bully to help the victim (a boy she likes). But instead of being grateful, he feels humiliated at being rescued "by a girl," and gets angry at her. She promptly punches him in the nose and then sulks alone in the playground.

Young John Dolittle talks to his dog (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres), who explains dogs sniff each other's butts as a way of greeting, and John does so when meeting his new principal. This behavior concerns his father (Ossie Davis), who hires the local minister to perform an exorcism. When John is scared his dog attacks the minister, and his father gives the dog up for adoption. The incident greatly upsets John and he stops talking to animals.
