The premise of the story was that Pauline's wealthy guardian Mr. Marvin, upon his death, has left her inheritance in the care of his secretary, Mr. Koerner, until the time of her marriage. Pauline wants to wait a while before marrying, as her dream is to go out and have adventures to prepare herself for becoming an author. It is the day before Thanksgiving, and Rastus who is without a cent to his name, has promised himself that, come what may, his wife Eliza and his daughter shall eat of a plump turkey the following day. Prowling round the local butchers he watches the stock of birds gradually dwindle without having the opportunity to take one unobserved. At last he becomes desperate, and when old George Green purchases the last bird he sees that his only chance is to take it from him by hook or by crook. Arriving home, Green takes the turkey out in the yard to kill it. While he turns away for a few minutes to sharpen his knife, Rastus puts his hand through a hole in the wooden fence and seizes the bird. The hole is not large enough to pull the bird through, but Rastus tries to do so, with the result that he pulls three of the planks of the fence out, and with his hand through these and still holding on to the turkey like grim death, he bolts for home. Green starts in pursuit, but Rastus soon gets away from him, although he has many a laughable difficulty to overcome, for his stony brain could not see that he could take the turkey in the other hand and drop the three boards. When Thanksgiving Day arrived the following morn, Rastus and his family had a great time over the dinner.

Alors qu'elle tentait de se suicider après une histoire d'amour malheureuse, Lilla Gravert est sauvée par Larz Olrik. Elle quitte alors le Danemark pour New York, où elle se marie avec son sauveur. Lors de leur cinquième anniversaire de mariage, Lilla rencontre Eric Helsingor, l'homme qui l'avait trahie. Helsingor lui demande de l'argent contre son silence et Lilla accepte. Lorsque Lilla et Larz adoptent un petit garçon sur les conseils de leur amie commune Kristine, Lilla découvre que l'enfante est en fait le fils de Kristine et Helsingor. Larz suspecte Helsingor de faire chanter Kristine, mais lorsque celui-ci est blessé lors d'une bagarre, Larz l'emmène chez lui pour qu'il guérisse. Helsingor y rencontre Marie Meyer, la fille d'un mentor de Lilla, et tente de la convaincre de fuir avec lui. Face à ces offenses répétées d'Helsingor, Lilla se bat avec lui, mais Kristine arrive et tire sur Helsingor avant de se suicider. Lilla insiste pour que Larz lise les lettres du maître chanteur, mais il les jette dans la cheminée.

Based upon a short review in a film magazine, a young woman (Talmadge) marries a wealthy scoundrel so that her mother can live in luxury. While vacationing on his yacht, she becomes shipwrecked and is cast on a desert island with a stoker (Standing) for her companion. They eventually fall in love, but are rescued just before celebrating their wilderness-witnessed nuptials. Her husband later dies, so the lovers are then able to marry.
