Gajendra Ahire is an Indian film maker and screenwriter. He is noted for his work in Marathi cinema, including a 2007 biopic about Vasudev Balwant Phadke and has also worked as a television screenwriter for programs such as Shrimaan-Shrimati.
International critically acclaimed and multi-award winner Gajendra Ahire won (Rajat Kamal) Silver Lotus Award and got international breakthrough when he directed Not only Misses Raut and it was nominated as official entry for best regional language movie for many annual Film festivals across the globe in 2003 and won many awards too.
Gajendra Ahire received numerous awards and recognition for his creative, talented literary works in field of cinema and theater. He has written more than 800 episodes for television's famous serials in Hindi and Marathi language. Later he began directing regional language movies; Ahire appeared in several significant roles in Marathi feature films and won many category awards for his story, screenplay, direction & best film. Such as Krishna Katachi Mira, Not only Misses Raut, Vasudev bhalwatrao phadke, Pandhar, Vitthal Vitthal, Kandobacha Nava ne, Sail, Sariwar sari, Diwase diwas, May baap, Bayo, Sawar re, Gulmohar etc

Industrialization has reached each and every small village in India and the villages here are bearing the brunt of urbanisation in their own way. This is the story of a family residing in one such village. The family comprises an elder brother Vithal, a farmer by profession, younger brother Anand, a student, and the middle one Yeshwant, a vagabond, who left his education midway. Vidya Barve, is a divorced, working woman,sharing a rented flat with a room mate in Mumbai. Our film deals with one single night which Vidya is forced to spend on the streets of this city. As she ambles on the deserted roads waiting for morning, she's frightened, lonely, angry, confused. Alternating between her encounters during this night and her past, the film finally sees a visibly confident Vidya coming to terms with her lot. And that is when dawn breaks... The title Shevri suggests an insignificant wisp of cotton, which is Vidya. An ordinary woman with ordinary dreams, leading a life which is now out of the ordinary for her. Her coming to terms with her state today and becoming present to her life is what gives an essence to the film.

Mrs. Vidya Raut murders her boss Karkhanis near Juhu Beach and surrenders herself to the police. She also submits the bloody dagger, weapon of murder. Swati Dandavate, a budding scholar advocate decides to fight her case. Her initial meetings with Mrs. Raut go waste as she keeps confessing her crime and is ready for the punishment. Convinced that something is hidden, Swati decides to find it out. Swati's husband Aditya, who is also an advocate, is now public prosecutor in this case. His elder brother and he try to convince Swati to drop the case which she would obviously lose. But standing against her family, Swati decides to dig out truth and defend Mrs.
