Ghassan Massoud (Arabic: غسّان مسعود‎; born September 20, 1958) is a Syrian actor and filmmaker. He is known in the West for playing the role of Muslim ruler Saladin in Ridley Scott's 2005 film Kingdom of Heaven.
Massoud also played the "Sheikh" in the Turkish film Kurtlar Vadisi: Irak (Valley of the Wolves: Iraq), and Ammand the Corsair in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Massoud turned down a role in the 2005 film Syriana, claiming he feared the movie would be anti-Arab. Massoud also cited concerns regarding the political situation in his country and the wider region in declining the role. He later said he regretted his decision after seeing the completed film. Massoud is known in Syria for his appearance in many Syrian-made films, and writing and directing the theatre play Diplomasiyyoun, and was part of the Syrian Ministry of Culture’s National Theater’s 2002 season. He has appeared in the Syrian television miniseries The Chant of Rain, and in Haytham Hakky's well known work Memories of the Forthcoming Age, and on the Syrian stage was an actor in August Strindberg's Miss Julie. He was the actor for Salahuddin in the 2005 movie Kingdom of Heaven (film) Most recently, he starred as the companion of Muhammad, Abu Bakr in MBC's Omar Series.

Massoud was born in Damascus. Married with both a son and daughter, Massoud teaches Drama at both the Damascus Music and Drama School and Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts.

Massoud a également joué le cheik dans le film turc La Vallée des loups - Irak, et Ammand du Corsaire dans Pirates des Caraïbes : Jusqu'au bout du monde. Il a refusé un rôle dans Syriana, la superproduction hollywoodienne, en 2005, affirmant sa crainte que le film soit anti-Arabe. Massoud s'est dit également préoccupé par la situation politique dans son pays et dans la région en refusant le rôle. Plus tard, il dit qu'il regrettait sa décision après avoir vu le film achevé.

Massoud est connu en Syrie pour son apparition dans de nombreux films réalisés en Syrie, et l'écriture et la direction de la pièce de théâtre Diplomasiyyoun.

Il faisait partie du Ministère syrien de la culture nationale dans le secteur du théâtre en 2002. Il est apparu dans la mini-série télévisée syrienne, Le Chant de la pluie, et dans Haytham Hakky. Il fut acteur dans Mademoiselle Julie de Strindberg.

Marié et père de deux fils et d'une fille, Massoud enseigne le théâtre et la musique à l'Université de Damas, à la Drama School et à l'Institut supérieur des arts dramatiques.

In 1300 BC, Moses, a general and member of the royal family, prepares to attack the Hittite army with Prince Ramesses. A High Priestess of Sekhmet (the war goddess) divines a prophecy from animal intestines, which she relates to Ramesses' father, Seti I. He tells the two men of the prophecy, in which one (of Moses and Ramesses) will save the other and become a leader. During the attack on the Hittites, Moses saves Ramesses' life, leaving both men troubled. Later, Moses is sent to the city of Pithom to meet with the Viceroy Hegep, who oversees the Hebrew slaves. Upon his arrival, he encounters the slave Joshua, who is the descendant of Joseph, and Moses is appalled by the horrific conditions of the slaves. Shortly afterwards, Moses meets Nun, who informs him of his true lineage; he is the child of Hebrew parents who was sent by his sister Miriam to be raised by Pharaoh's daughter. Moses is stunned at the revelation and leaves angrily. However, two Hebrews also overhear Nun's story and report their discovery to Hegep.

To control the oceans, Lord Cutler Beckett executes anyone associated with piracy and uses Davy Jones to destroy pirate ships. Travelling to Singapore, the crew meet Sao Feng who owns navigational charts to the Locker. Beckett’s soldiers invade, but the crew escape, Feng and Turner making a deal to give Jack to Feng so he in turn can use the Pearl to rescue his father Bootstrap Bill from the Flying Dutchman. The crew successfully rescue Jack, but find themselves trapped in the Locker, encountering dead souls, including Elizabeth’s murdered father Governor Swann. They learn the Dutchman must have a captain, and their heart must be cut out to captain the vessel.

The film opens with a fictional depiction of a real-life incident, the "Hood event". On July 4, 2003, the Turkish soldiers believe they are having an ordinary visit from their NATO allies, but a sudden change occurs, and 11 allied Turkish special forces soldiers and 13 civilians are arrested by Colonel Sam William Marshall (Billy Zane), in the northern Iraq town of Sulaymaniyah. They are forced to wear hoods while in detention, and are released some time later.
