Gil Parrondo (born 17 June 1921) is a Spanish art director, set decorator and production designer. He won two Academy Awards and was nominated for another in the category Best Art Direction.
Dans les années qui suivent, il travaille notamment pour Orson Welles, Juan Antonio Bardem, Robert Rossen, Stanley Kramer, Nicholas Ray ou Anthony Mann. Puis au début des années 1960, arrivent les coproductions américano-espagnoles et l'utilisation de décors naturels espagnols comme pour Lawrence d'Arabie ou Le Docteur Jivago, puis la rencontre avec Franklin J. Schaffner.
Les années 1980 le voient revenir au cinéma espagnol, principalement avec le cinéaste José Luis Garci.
En 1983, il reçoit la médaille d'or du mérite des beaux-arts.

Biography
Gil Parrondo étudie la peinture et l'architecture à l'Académie royale des beaux-arts de San Fernando à Madrid. Il commence à travailler pour le cinéma en 1940 en tant qu'assistant décorateur, puis en 1951 assure pour la première fois la direction artistique d'un film.Dans les années qui suivent, il travaille notamment pour Orson Welles, Juan Antonio Bardem, Robert Rossen, Stanley Kramer, Nicholas Ray ou Anthony Mann. Puis au début des années 1960, arrivent les coproductions américano-espagnoles et l'utilisation de décors naturels espagnols comme pour Lawrence d'Arabie ou Le Docteur Jivago, puis la rencontre avec Franklin J. Year 1808. The young Gabriel Araceli (Quim Gutierrez) is working as a typesetter in a modest printing of Madrid. His girlfriend, Ines (Paula Echevarria), is a pretty orphan girl living in Aranjuez, hosted by his uncle, the evil Don Celestino Santos (Manuel Galiana). During his visit to the Royal Site to see the bride, Gabriel coincides with the historic uprising of 19 March against Godoy, whose palace is assaulted by the mob. Thinking about the girl's sake, Don Celestino consent to Inez moved to Madrid to live with their relatives also Don Mauro Requejo and sister Restituta. Gabriel, to be near his girlfriend, in response to a notice is provided as a waiter in the shop. With the help of the boy John of God, who is in love with the girl, tries to kidnap Agnes, for Don Mauro seeks nothing less than to marry her himself.
