Homayoun Ershadi (sometimes spelled Homayon Ershadi, Persian: همایون ارشادی , born 1947) is an Iranian actor.
Ershadi was born in Isfahan, Iran in 1947. He studied architecture in Italy and worked in that field. Acclaimed Iranian New Wave director Abbas Kiarostami chose him to play the leading role in Taste of Cherry. A non-professional actor, who started acting in his middle age, he has had immediate success in both cinema and television, with his expressionless, relaxed face and monotonous voice often giving his characters an intellectual personality.
Most recently he can be seen in the film The Kite Runner, playing the role of Baba.
He currently resides in Karaj, Iran.

Homayoun Ershadi est né à Ispahan en Iran en 1947. Il a étudié l'architecture en Italie et a travaillé dans ce domaine. Le réalisateur Abbas Kiarostami l'a choisi pour interpréter le rôle principal de son film, Le Goût de la cerise (Palme d'or au Festival de Cannes 1997 ex-aequo avec L'Anguille de Shohei Imamura). Acteur non-professionnel débutant à un âge avancé, il a eu immédiatement du succès. Avec son visage aux traits réguliers et sans expression et sa voix monotone, ses personnages prennent une tonalité intellectuelle.Il joue le rôle de Baba dans Les Cerfs-volants de Kaboul.
En 2016 il est membre du jury du Festival international du film d'Erevan.
Il habite actuellement à Karadj en Iran.

In 2003, Maya, a young U.S. Central Intelligence Agency officer, has spent her entire brief career, since graduating from college and being recruited for the agency, focused solely on gathering intelligence related to Osama bin Laden, leader of al-Qaeda, following the terrorist organization's attack on the United States in 2001. She is reassigned to the U.S. embassy in Pakistan to work with a fellow officer, Dan. During the first months of her assignment, Maya often accompanies Dan to a black site for his continuing interrogation of Ammar al-Baluchi, a detainee with suspected links to several of the hijackers in the September 11 attacks. Dan subjects the detainee to approved interrogation techniques, i.e., stress positions, hooding, subjection to deafening noise, sleep deprivation, waterboarding, and humiliation. After failing to get al-Baluchi to give up information on an attack in Saudi Arabia, he and Maya eventually trick Ammar into divulging that an old acquaintance, who is using the alias Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti, is working as a personal courier for bin Laden. Other detainees corroborate this, with some claiming Abu Ahmed delivers messages between bin Laden and a man known as Abu Faraj al-Libbi. In 2005, Abu Faraj is apprehended by the CIA and local police in Pakistan. Maya is allowed to interrogate him, but he continues to deny knowing a courier with such a name. Maya interprets this as an attempt by Faraj to conceal the importance of Abu Ahmed.

In 391 AD, Alexandria is part of the Roman Empire, and Greek philosopher Hypatia (Rachel Weisz) is a teacher at the Platonic school, where future leaders are educated. The film opens with an Afghan-American writer Amir Qadiri (Khalid Abdalla) and his wife, Soraya (Atossa Leoni), who are watching children flying kites at a bayside park. When they arrive home, Amir finds waiting for him packages of his new novel, A Season for Ashes, which has just been published.
