Will, Neil and Jay's girlfriends have all broken up with them since the events of the last film, and Simon is unhappy with his girlfriend Lucy, who has become obsessive and abusive. Simon and Will are depressed and ostracised at university; Neil is working in a bank; and Jay is taking a gap year in Australia. He emails Neil, claiming that he is now a top DJ at a popular night club, lives in a luxury mansion, and has daily sex with multiple partners. This convinces them to visit him in Australia for their Easter holidays. Once they arrive at the club they find that Jay in fact only works as a toilet attendant, while Will meets Katie, an old friend from his private school days, who is backpacking, and she persuades him to join her.

The film takes place during the Egyptian protests in 2013. An archaeological team discover a vast pyramid buried under the Egyptian desert; a pyramid that has three sides and not four like the pyramids of Giza, Egypt. Using satellite technology they determine the pyramid to be 600 feet (180 m) deep. A tunnel that leads into the apex of the pyramid is discovered and upon opening, releases toxic air which poisons a worker. Shortly afterwards the team is ordered to leave the site because of the uprising in Giza. The team, composed of father and daughter Miles and Nora Holden, argue over leaving the dig site because they are uncertain of when they can return. Eventually they agree on sending in a remote controlled robot to survey the first few rooms and document the pyramid. Shorty, the robot, enters the pyramid and after examining a small portion of the structure is attacked by an unknown creature and goes offline.

Using film noir low key lighting and unbalanced frame compositions, along with visual and narrative tropes whose sources include John Buchan's novels and Alfred Hitchcock's films, and Hollywood productions The Fugitive and Sunset Boulevard, the film imagines former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as a fugitive on the run from the police after having been accused of a series of murders. These include the killing of his former Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, although he is also implicated in the death of his predecessor as Labour Party leader John Smith. Determined to clear his name, Blair escapes from 10 Downing Street; but he is a man with no friends willing to give him sanctuary, while a fervent media demands his capture. He is pursued across a fog-bound London by Inspector Hutton and his sergeant, who are helped in their investigation by Peter Mandelson and Gordon Brown. Blair is eventually aided by Margaret Thatcher, a Norma Desmond-like recluse (parodying the 1950 film, Sunset Boulevard), who promptly seduces him. But it gradually emerges that Blair may be innocent of the crime he is accused of committing.
