En 1894, le capitaine Alfred Dreyfus, officier français de confession juive, est condamné à la déportation à vie pour avoir fourni des documents secrets à l'Allemagne. Le commandant Marie-Georges Picquart, promu lieutenant-colonel et chef du Deuxième Bureau, découvre que le commandant Ferdinand Walsin Esterhazy espionne pour l'Allemagne et que son propre adjoint, Hubert Henry, sait que le véritable traître n'est pas Dreyfus mais Esterhazy, surnommé Dubois. Par devoir et sens de l'honneur, Picquart refuse d'obéir à ses chefs qui lui ordonnent d'étouffer l'affaire. Il est menacé, arrêté, emprisonné, mais persiste jusqu'à ce que la vérité éclate et que Dreyfus soit libéré et réhabilité. Pendant douze ans, cette « affaire » déchire la France de la Troisième République et fait scandale dans le monde entier.

En 1996, à l’appel d’une chorégraphe de renom, un groupe de danseurs urbains se retrouvent dans un local de répétition isolé en bordure d'une forêt, par un temps enneigé. Dans un monde sans téléphone portable ni Internet, ils répètent une dernière fois avant de s'envoler pour les États-Unis. À l'issue de la répétition, les danseurs se lancent dans une fête pour décompresser. Mais très vite, il apparaît que quelqu'un a versé une substance illicite dans la sangria qu'ils buvaient. Quand certains s’entraînent dans une transe dansante sans fin, d'autres plongent dans la démence et l'horreur.

Thomas is a writer-director of a new play, an adaptation of the 1870 novel Venus in Furs by Austrian author Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. Alone in a Parisian theatre after a day of auditioning actresses for the lead character, Wanda von Dunayev, Thomas laments on the phone of the poor performances to come through. As he is preparing to leave the theatre, an actress named Vanda arrives disheveled. In a whirlwind of energy and unrestrained aggression, Vanda convinces the director to let her read for the part. To Thomas's amazement, Vanda shows great understanding of the character and knows every line by heart. As the audition progresses, the intensity is redoubled and the attraction of Thomas turns into obsession.

Pierre Brossard (Michael Caine), a French Nazi collaborator, orders seven Jews executed during World War II. The film takes place in 1671. In the prelude to the Franco-Dutch War, a financially struggling Louis II de Bourbon, Prince de Condé is visited by King Louis XIV for three days of festivities at the Château de Chantilly.. The prince wants a commission as a general, and spares no expense in order to impress the king. In charge of organizing the event is François Vatel, Master of Festivities and Pleasures in the prince's household. Vatel is a man of great honor and talent, but of low birth. As the great Condé is prepared to do anything in his quest for stature, the tasks assigned to Vatel are often menial and dishonourable. While Vatel tries to sustain dignity amidst the extravaganza he is meant to orchestrate, he finds himself in love with Anne de Montausier, the king's latest lover, who returns his affections. However, due to their incompatible social standing and the rigid hierarchy of the court, continuing the liaison is clearly impossible. The movie ends with Vatel realizing that he is nothing more than a puppet in the hands of his superiors, bought and sold like a piece of property: he consequently commits suicide. Vatel throws himself on his sword because the roast was not sufficient to feed several unexpected guests, the clouds dulled the fireworks display and he lacked confidence that there would be enough fish for the morning meal. Anne de Montausier is grief-stricken upon hearing the news but she must not speak of it. In doing so, she flees the court quietly and no one ever knew about her and Vatel.

Detritus decides to capture the potion for himself, and hearing that the clever Asterix and permanently invincible Obelix are the backbone of the Gaulish forces, attempts and fails to eliminate them.
