Jerry Stahl is a Actor and Scriptwriter American born on 28 september 1953
Jerry Stahl (born September 28, 1954) is an American novelist and screenwriter. He is best known for his memoir of addiction Permanent Midnight. A film adaptation followed with Ben Stiller in the lead role.
Stahl has worked extensively in film and television. He has two daughters: Stella, who is a senior at Northwestern University and is studying theater and political science, and Nico Sophia born in 2012.

Il publie Plainclothes Naked (À poil en civil) en 2001 et il rédige le scénario du film Bad Boys 2 de Michael Bay en 2003. L'année suivante, il publie son troisième roman, I, Fatty (Moi, Fatty), qui raconte l’histoire fictive du célèbre acteur américain Roscoe Arbuckle. Biography
Il fréquente l’université Columbia qu’il quitte sans diplôme pour partir travailler en Europe. Il passe par la Grèce, Paris et Londres, avant de retourner à New York où il décide de vivre de son écriture. Il travaille comme rédacteur pour le magazine pornographique américain Hustler et il devient dépendant à l’héroïne. Il commence à écrire pour le septième art : il signe le scénario de Nightdreams de Francis Delia en 1981, et de Café Flesh et de Dr. Cagliari de Stephen Sayadian en 1982 et 1989. Il collabore à l’écriture d’épisodes pour les séries Alf, Père et impair, Clair de lune, Bienvenue en Alaska et Twin Peaks.Il écrit ses mémoires en 1995 sous le titre Permanent Midnight: A Memoir (Mémoires des ténébres) qui devient Permanent Midnight au cinéma en 1998. The title designates time and location: an unusually hot August in a rural area outside Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Beverly Weston (Sam Shepard), an alcoholic, once-noted poet, interviews and hires a young native American woman Johnna (Misty Upham) as a live-in cook and caregiver for his strong-willed and contentious wife Violet (Meryl Streep), who is suffering from oral cancer and addiction to narcotics. Shortly after this, he disappears from the house, and Violet calls her sister and daughters for support. Her sister Mattie Fae (Margo Martindale) arrives with husband Charles Aiken (Chris Cooper). The main plot involves Dr. Caligari's experiments with her patients at the C.I.A (Caligari Insane Asylum) where she transfers glandular brain fluids from one patient to another. Two of her main patients, Mr. Pratt, a cannibalistic serial killer, and Mrs. Van Houten, a nymphomanical housewife, are the primary subjects of her mindswapping. Mrs. Van Houten becomes the cannibal and Mr. Pratt the nymphomaniac; although, they seem to still retain some elements of themselves as well. Apparently Caligari's unconventional idea is to cure people by introducing equally opposite traits to balance out disturbed minds, but this is never explicitly stated in the film. Several other doctors, a married couple Mr & Mrs Lodger, become concerned with Caligari's experiments and approach Mrs. Lodgers father Dr. Avol who confronts Caligari only to fall victim to her mindswapping and receives an injection of Mrs. Van Houtens fluid turning him into a transvestite nymphomaniac. Sex is a very prominent theme throughout the movie, especially for Mrs. Van Houten who appears topless and performs masturbation at several points, but there are no hard core graphic scenes as this was released as an R rated feature. By the end of the film Mrs. Van Houten has injected Dr. Caligari with her own nymphomanical fluid and herself with Caligari's ancestor's (the original Dr. Caligari from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) thus the patient becomes the doctor, the doctor becomes the patient and the inmates are left running the asylum.
