Fields gave birth to her first child, Sebastian Alexander Morgan, by then-boyfriend, Broadway actor Christopher Morgan, on May 4, 2007. The couple introduced their son the following week in People magazine. On July 23, 2007, they were married in a private ceremony officiated by Pastor Donnie McClurkin. On July 24, 2013, she announced on the talk show, The Real, that she and her husband were expecting another child, a boy. Set in Atlanta, the film opens with fitness trainer Jules Baxter (Cameron Diaz) and her dance partner Evan Webber (Matthew Morrison) performing on the TV show Celebrity Dance Factor. They are crowned the winners of the show, but Jules vomits in their trophy, discovering that she is pregnant. Jules struggles when trying to balance her pregnancy with her normal active life. She has an ongoing argument with Evan over whether or not to have their son circumcised. During labor, she chooses not to have an epidural. She gives birth to a girl called Emerson, meaning their debate doesn't matter anymore. After giving birth, Jules and Evan get engaged.

The movie begins with a group of children and teens playing, until they see someone walk past them (leaving them with bad vibes). The mysterious stranger Silk (Mekhi Phifer) walks into the store and exposes his gun (signalling a robbery), Mecca (Kim Fields) berates the criminal, until he angrily draws his gun and gives her to the count of 3 to give him the money, she submits before he got to the 3rd number, he was however distracted by a passing truck and shoots her when he saw her pulled out a shotgun, Silk quickly fled the area (knowing someone heard the gunfire). While away from the premises, he was disappointed in the low amount of money. Shortly after, Silk hears something and readies his gun pointing it at an unseen person exclaiming "who the f**k are you".
